Sri Lanka gets a new Prime Minister in Ranil Wickremasinghe

Our southern neighbour Sri Lanka has unfortunately been suffering from extreme economic recession and is presently in doldrums. This is due to corruption and wrong decisions of Rajapakse brothers and straightaway falling into the debt trap set by the Chinese.

Now, Mahinda Rajapakse has resigned from the post of Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, although his brother Gotabaya is still continuing as President. Ranil Wickremasinghe has taken oath as the new Prime Minister of the country. Ranil Wickremasinghe is one of the most respected politicians of today's Sri Lanka. He is not in the China camp unlike Rajapakse brothers. He has maintained more or less cordial working relationship with India.

The China-leaning Rajapakse brothers and earlier Ranasinghe Premadasa, etc. slowly but steadily took Sri Lanka towards the debt trap set by China and then finally threw entire country in the trap.

It will take considerable time for Sri Lanka to come out of Chinese trap and the consequent economic mess. It is expected that Wickremasinghe won't take any suicidal economic decision like his predecessor. .It is also expected that as a country, it would come out of China's harmful sphere of influence and the western world and India would help Sri Lanka to regain its past economy.

We must wish best of luck to the new Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Ranil Wickremasinghe. Under his leadership, The Sri Lankan's will vanquish harmful influence of China and become a strong country with full co-operation from India.

Mr Wickremesinghe, 73, has been appointed to the office of the Prime Minister by the president. This is the sixth time he is getting appointed as the Prime Minister of this country. But the important point to be noted is he never finished a full term in the office. The task before him is a very big own and arresting the devastating impact of the economic condition of Lanka is in no way an easy one.
Many citizens of this nation are demanding the resignation of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa also expressed his intention to form the government in case the President vacates his position. Mr Wickremesinghe is the only member of Parliament from his party but the majority of present ruling party members are expressing their willingness to support this man. We have to wait and watch what is there on the cards for this country.
I wish the new PM of the country all the best in his new position and hope he will bring the derailed country back onto the rails shortly.

What has happened in the recent past is very disturbing and the tranquility of the Island has been hugely lost and the people are up in the arms , taking the law into the hands, burning the govt properties, buses and even throwing the military and police vehicles into the canal, the videos emanating on the social media are really disturbing. The change of guard in the PM post was expected as the past govt unable to contain the violence nor create confidence in the people. Now there has been international talk that India influenced the change of PM and Ranil has been installed. Now Sri Lanka wants immediate help and succor and only India can reach out and those who opposed to us are no more in the seat and thus Modi govt would certainly have great plans to revive the economy of the Island to the past glory.

Considering the world view of Ranil Wickremasinghe and his advocacy of open economy without Government control, many intellectuals and economists of Sri Lanka have expressed their open support to the new Prime Minister of Sri Lanka. India has already announced a moderately high financial package for the country. Western world is also coming forward to save the country ravaged by China's lust and corruption of some top political families of the country.
We hope that in a few years, the country will come out of the problems originated from harmful friendship with China.
On the birthday of Prabhu Buddha, best wishes to the people of Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka debt is only 3 lakh crores but India debt is more than 100 lakh crores .If China wants to revive Sri Lanka it is as easy for China to put butter on the bread.

Sri Lanka is going through a tough phase. Their economy is totally in shambles. Sri Lanka is depending on outside for supply of various commodities and right now they do not have financial resources to buy them. In this difficult situation we have to see as how the new prime minister is going to solve the economic crisis and bring order in the country. Sri Lanka being a neighbour country India would like that there should be progress and peace in that part of the Indian subcontinent. It is also true that powerful countries like China are also finding an opportunity during this turmoil in Sri Lanka by increasing their influence in that area. Keeping all these factors in consideration India has to help Sri Lanka during this bad time. The new prime minister would not be able to do anything if external support is not given to Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka is passing through the severe crisis due to the derailment of the economy and at the present time, it would be difficult to handle the financial crisis alone by the newly appointed prime minister. The people of Sri Lanka have their patience and the same is known to the prime minister. The immediate solution lies in offering loans to be paid in the long course carrying cheaper rate of interest so as to tide over the present crisis.
Let us what package Sri Lanka is likely to get from its neighbours especially from India. We don't foresee any package forthcoming from other neighbours due to their financial constraints other than China. China might come forward for some financial help with some conditions. Anyway we need to watch cautiously how best the newly appointed prime minister takes step to contain inflation.

I would humbly request Bhushan Sir to kindly explain what he wants to say in his response #757887. I am not fully clear about the relevance of this response.
