How far you get motivated to write more by the admiring comments of editors and fellow members?

We have already discussed it umpteen times, but the question remains alive. What motivates us to post content in the forum section of the ISC? Is it the points earned or the cash credits? Perhaps, none of the above two.

I think the admiring comments of the editors and the fellow members act as a catalyst to post quality content. Also, many of us continue to write to see our brainchild published in the web world.

What is your opinion in this regard? How far do you get motivated to write more by the admiring comments of editors and fellow members? Do you prefer to respond to light-hearted threads or to serious matters also?

What I feel that when a post or the comment already made in this forum and if that connects with our thought process and wave length, we certainly attempt to respond forthwith. Some posts are raised in this forum through which we already gone through and by virtue of experience, we are able to write the response with more perfection and to the understanding level of the members. And this forum not only motivates me but also stands testimony that I learn something or the other daily through others post. What others learn from my post is also a concern for me because once I post, within minutes the responses would pour in and that proves I understood the pulse of the members here and thus keep going. If somebody says I am working for money or points, certainly not as I already achieved super platinum level and earning every time.

Some members may get motivated from deriding, discouraging comments or unnecessary deletion/edition from editors. Motivation works in different ways in different persons.

What I feel that I am excited to see some of the captions appearing in the thread encourages me to write. If the caption is matching where I can put my expressions, I would not leave the same. It never flashes in my mind that it would bring certain points or rewards. The inner urge prompts me to write once the caption is appearing in the Forum Response and in that situation nothing comes in the mind other than the related topic in which I need to put my experience or emotions. Of course, the admiring comments of the editors and fellow members give me enough stimulation to sustain my activities of writing in the forum.

An appreciation from the fellow members or from the editors will definitely motivate a writer to contribute more in the site and strive for the improvement in his or her work. It is nothing but a natural human tendency to respond like that. Anything which praises the work of a person in terms of appreciation or award or applause or accolades or financial award is always a welcome measure and is a type of encouragement only. Sometimes there is a critical comment on the work of a person and that is not a negative thing because the person should take it as an opportunity to introspect and it would definitely help in improving his work further.

Knowledge is power.

I meant to say that some members like Partha K. may get more motivated if any editor makes deriding comment or resorts to unnecessary editing to their responses
In case of those members, motivation works differently.

I have been interested in writing something or the other due to my love for the English language and ISC has given me a wonderful platform to write which has been viewed by many people. Fortunately for me, some members have always encouraged me which helps me to post more on ISC. Rewards matters to me but money doesn't matter at all.
By posting on this channel I not only feel satisfied but also feel happy when some members appreciate my writing skills.

When we do some work, not alone writing, if somebody recognises the same and appreciates, definitely we will be happy. Recently I wrote a book of Poems in Telugu and published it. One of my friends who is an employee in a newspaper publishing company saw that book with one of my relatives and read it. Then he published a review in his newspaper and sent me a copy. I am very happy to see that. Those good words will have a catalytic effect on our work. Of course, there may be some mistakes which should also be brought to our notice. But people love to have appreciation in public and suggestions and remarks in private. These are the general trends we see in all.
As far as ISC is concerned, it is a platform to learn as far as I am concerned. So I take all types of comments and remarks in the same way and I try to improve myself. But all the stakeholders should understand that the words that are used in appreciating and commenting make a lot of difference. Sugar-coated tablets are liked more than ordinary tablets.
