2022 T20 World Cup Team India Final Squad

It is likely that the squad for the ICC T20 World Cup that will be held later this year will be announced today. Quick! Before the official announcement is made, what will be your choice of players for the 15-member squad?

Suggest (1) names of batsmen and bowlers who should be taken for all games, and (2) names of those who should be included in the squad and can play as per the opponent, pitch conditions, etc.

Once the squad is officially announced, let's see how many of us made suggestions that matched those of the selection committee. We can then discuss in this same thread what we approved/disapproved of the committee's selection.

An interesting thread by Vandana.
The T20 world cup is a litmus test for Indian Head Coach Rahul Dravid. Indian team's defeat in the super 4 stage in the Asis cup tournament brought some comments against him. So he should see that the Indian team will perform well in this world cup. On this occasion, I wish all the best to Dravid and his Indian Team.
My choice for the squad is almost tallying with Vandana's selection.
Here is my choice.
1. Rohit Sharma. Rahul, K.L., Virat Kohli. Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal, Bhuvaneswar Kumar, R.Ashwin.
2. Mohammed Shami, Deepak Chahar, Kuldeep Yadav, Dinesh Kartik, Axar Patel.

Rohit Sharma will be the Captain, with KL Rahul as his deputy. The other players are- Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Dinesh Karthik, Hardik Pandya, R. Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Harshal Patel, Arshdeep Singh, and Deepak Hooda,

Reserves- Mohammed Shami, Shreyas Iyer, Deepak Chahar, and Ravi Bishnoi.

So what do you think? Will this team get us to the finals and hopefully lift the trophy too?

I am of the same opinion as many fans and ex-cricketers, that Mohammed Shami should have been in the main squad and not merely as a reserve. Arshdeep Singh could have been the reserve player, instead. from the selected list. I hope Dinesh Karthik is taken as the primary wicketkeeper. I feel his form might count, rather than Rishabh Pant for this format of the game, and often Rishabh Pant seems to be taking bad calls for DRS.

Also, while it is generally sunny weather and quite pleasant in October when the matches begin, let's hope a sudden downpour does not scuttle the chances of teams in any game and reduce the number of overs or wash out the match!

Sometimes it becomes difficult to select a player when there are equally competent contenders but anyway the squad is selected and we can hope that it will perform well and bring home the laurels. Cricket is a game of skills and alertness but there are sometimes external factors or luck factors as people call them and it is very difficult to predict as who would win and grab the cup. I wish all the best for the team India and its players and hope that they will show an unprecedented performance in these matches. All the best.

I feel Rishba Pant is doing good with the bat sometimes. But there is no consistency. But Karthik is doing a good job behind the wickets. But if we observe the list of players selected the name of RIshb Pant is coming before Dinesh Kartik. Probably, the selectors might have cleared the name of Rishabh first and then Dinesh. But the playing eleven will be selected on the day just before starting of the match by the team management. So both the wicket keepers have an equal chance and the final selection will be based on the pitch condition and other issues on that day.
Somehow I feel, we are not able to get some constant bowlers combination. The names of 3 or 4 batters are coming unanimously but there are many options for selecting bowlers and hence a lot of confusion is taking place. How to sort out that issue is an important point.
The Indian cricket team is a strong team and there is every chance for the team to lift the trophy. But on that particular day how the team plays can't be predicted by us. But I can't rule out the chances of India winning the trophy. But definitely, they will reach the semifinal stage.

Oh! Even when I'm writing this comment I don't know the squad has been announced. The squad I mentioned is purely based on my guess.

I wish all the best to the indian cricket team for the T20 world cup. The Indian cricket team is strong and can win us the world cup. But they have to play better cricket, any team can upset as this is T20 game. Like Srilanka in the Asia cup surprised the world with their performance, it can be any other team that can surprise. So, I feel it is a tough competition and India will have to show grit and some great performances to win the world cup!
