Bharat Jodo Yatra, a unique movement in post independent India.

Rahul Gandhi started a padayatra (foot march) called 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' on 07-09-2022 from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu. This padayatra is from Kanyakumari to Kashmir and covers a distance of more than 3500 Km. It passes through 12 States and 2 Union Territories. It will take 150 days to complete the yatra. The slogan of the yatra is 'Mile Kadam, Jude Vatan' (Come together, unite the nation). The yatra completed 41 days and covered a little more than 1000 Km.

Rahul Gandhi says that the Bharat Jodo Yatra is a movement to unite the voices of the people of India against injustice. He says the hate and fear atmosphere being created in the country in the name of religion, using Government Institutions to muffle any sort of opposition and criticism may divide the nation and the people's voice is silenced. Rahul Gandhi is addressing the people in some places. He is questioning the Governments failure to contain inflation, rising prices of commodities, problems faced by the farmers and small business people, and also the high unemployment rate in the country.

The response to the yatra was very good in the three States of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka. Today is the rest day and the yatra resumes in Andhra Pradesh tomorrow. The yatra is televised live by the Congress and many other T.V. channels. The visuals show that there is a very good impact on the people.

When congress was ruling, Advani conducted a Ratha Yatra and he toured from Kanya Kumari to Kashmir, which brought BJP to power and Vajpayee became PM.
In united Andhra Pradesh, YS Rajasekhar Reddy undertook Pada Yatra and Congress won the elections. Recently in the present Andhra Pradesh, Jagan Mohan Reddy undertook Pada Yatra and won elections there. Thus as far as my knowledge goes, these types of Yatras brought success to political parties.
Actually, at this present juncture, Congress needs a brake. Hope that this yatra will bring that to this party. I hope in the coming parliament elections, Congress will put up a good show and win at least more seats than the seats they won in the last Parliament elections.
I hope Pada Yatras are a way to meet different people and know the mentalities and expectations of different people. This will help the politicians to get a better experience and hope Rajavi Gandhi will complete his Yatra successfully.

Padyatra and other such movements were generally undertaken by the political parties for getting the political mileage out of the then existing situation in the country. This padyatra is no different from those and if people are convinced it can definitely be successful in its objective. Today there are many people in the country who are thinking that the present regime is making searches and raids on some targetted people and sending them to jail. In some states some people are not getting their democratic rights to be exercised. So, due to all these things in the background the present padyatra holds some merit in its design and in politics it is said that strike the iron when it is hot and Congress is desparate to do that.
The present regime has also taken a lot of measures for the development of the nation and the international reputation of India has gone up significantly. But it has not been able to create jobs for the unemployed people and eradicate the corruption in government machinery. Corruption might have come down but it is still there in good amounts.
Some people are also blaming that this government is giving too much weight to the religious matters and religious feelings of the people. If they are doing it to reduce the appeasement of minority communities then it seems to be a logical thing otherwise it will also be termed as a negative point in their kitty. It is difficult to speculate the results of this padyatra at this moment and only coming times will show whether it was worth it or not.

    Knowledge is power.

I differ from the title of this thread. The "Bharat Jodo Yatra" is the not only 'Yatra' since India get independence but yes this is Congress's biggest mass contact 'Yatra' since independence. Good to see Mr. Rahul Gandhi leading from the front to bring some respect for the Congress party and for himself which is lost in Indian politics. Since Rahul Gandhi entered the congress party, nothing went well for the party. The groupism started within the party by their senior leaders and one by one some old and senior leaders were separated. However, it would be interesting to see how the congress party which could not able to unite their party leaders, unite this vast country.

A "movement" is different from a politically motivated yatra. In a movement, a normal citizen participates in his/her own choice for some serious change for the society or the country. As far as I remember, the Anna Hazare Anti-Corruption movement in 2011 was the biggest movement since independence which brought the entire nation together. I am sure many like me were the eye witnesses of the movement when the people of India came together on a such large scale and we all know this movement was the main reason for the downfall of the Congress party.

Coming to the topic, I sincerely wish all the best and good luck to the congress party for this Bharat Jodo yatra. If it brings success and can win the next election all credit should go to Rahul Gandhi if not then at least we will have a strong opposition party which require for a country like India.
