Will equal pay for women cricketers help game or business

The recent decision by BCCI to pay women cricketers the same match fee as men was lauded as "Truly a red letter day for Women's Cricket in India…" by Indian women's cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur.

However I did not see this evoked any serious public response or debate. I would like this matter to be properly discussed in this forum in detail.
I am not sure whether this will lead to more women entering Cricket and making the game more popular and engrossing. I am also afraid about Cricket becoming a still more profitable opportunity, now that more money is involved.

We also have to think why other games and sports are not being promoted this way? Will this decision wean away people from other sports and games ?

I think the decision of BCCI is appreciated by women cricketers. I felt that it is A welcome decision by BCCI.
This action is a step forward to prove that gender disparities are coming down. Equal work, equal pay. This is what many ladies discuss. In earlier days the payment to a woman employee was less than the payment to a man employee. Slowly that disparity is going away in many areas. Now it is the turn of crickets.
This may help more ladies to come into this area. In India cricket is a very favourite game for many people. That is why we are seeing more encouragement for cricket more than any other game. As far as business is concerned, the payment to women and men by BCCI will not have any influence. The support to the game by public only make the game popular and that will give chance for more business by BCCI.

I regret that a very significant decision on the road towards gender parity has not evoked any serious response and reaction from the expected corners. Those who are vocal day and night on gender parity also seem to have either not noted or ignored this decision.
A spread and debate of this could have led to many significant encouraging results in the whole gamut of sports and games and even contributing to a better participation of women in sports and games.

In this forum probably this thread would have got pushed down due to many new threads.
Hence I again bring it up for a discussion on the matter. Still there can be some contra points also.

Today the Cricket in India has became abusiness there is no doubt about it. The indian cricket Board the BCCI has so much money that they can make or brake any world tournament. Paying the same amount of money to the wome's cricket is a good decision which can bring up the quality in the women's cricket and we can see more and more talent there.
However, I see "money" in cricket as a "Bhasmasur" and I will not be surprised if the same money one day destroy this game. The best example is because of the money, the cricket has been moved from the traditional 'test' cricket to T-20 cricket. In t-20, a cricketer need more hard hitting ability than 'class'. Since, the money is flowing with this format the test crickets are getting played very less.

Coming to the topic, now soon will be a tournament like IPL for the women cricketer, if that work out then more money will come. So, it is very calculated job done by the BCCI.

As far as other sports are concern then yes, it will get affacted by this cricket. The thing is BCCI is not governed by Indian Government it is private and work their own. They don't get help from the government unlike anyother sports. However, the BCCI has helped time to time with some good amount of fund to other soprts as well. But the problem with other soprts are if the money has been used properly or not to develop others game.
