Bald is handsome and in; silver grey bowled out

Bald is beautiful or handsome really, says the new version Air India. I am not sure whether the 'Maharaja' will now remove his colourful headgear and proudly pat his shiny bald pate.
It is reported that the new etiquette guidelines for the cabin crew in Air India says that the cabin crew have to dye their hair black. Men with a partly bald scalp should make it full unadulterated bald !
"Grey hair must be colored regularly only in a natural hair color. Salt and pepper look, and grey hair is not permitted with uniform……."Bald look is allowed for crew with male balding patterns. Crew with U and V shape hairline on crown, visible scalp and large bald patches must keep a full bald look. Head must be shaved daily for a clean look."
Thank God, the passengers are spared from this. Otherwise I am shuddered what I will do with my middle bald patch and the grey bushes around!! Now male crew may have to fight for a daily head shaving allowance and a 'dyeing' allowance also may be needed.

This is a piece of good information from the author. That means now we can see bald head people as crew in Air India flights. As mentioned by the author, the make cabin crew has to spend some money to see that they will follow the guidelines given by the management. Now Air India is run by Tatas, I think. They may bring in many more amendments to see that the company will get into profits.
If Air India will not permit bald passengers, many of the men may not be allowed. The number of passengers will come down. I think that step will not be taken by the management as they have to see that their vehicle is full of passengers so that they will not have any operational losses.

I think the point being disseminated by the Tata group is that their crew must look young. Dyeing their hair black and not allowing uneven patches of hair is an attempt to make the crew look pepped up. The latest guidelines for uniforms for the crew include attire, make-up and jewelry as well. Actually, I am not able to understand the logic behind asking men to shave off their heads if they have receding hairlines or bald patches. They could have at the most asked the male crew to have a proper haircut and in case of using a hair dye, black should have been made mandatory. I am surprised that there have been no protests against this decision by the Airlines. I don't think the headgear worn by the Air India mascot will be removed but I think it would have been better if the male crew was asked to wear similar headgear (color may be prescribed) as part of their uniform instead of forcing them to shave their heads or to use dye with which some may not be comfortable.

Saji Ganesh (#767356) has noted in his response " I don't think the headgear worn by the Air India mascot will be removed but I think it would have been better if the male crew were asked to wear similar headgear (color may be prescribed) as part of their uniform instead of forcing them to shave their heads or to use dye with which some may not be comfortable."

I se it a noteworthy suggestion. Hope this reaches the Air India authorities or they themselves hit upon this idea.

The Air India Management should review their earlier decision keeping in view of the sentiments of the crew members. Asking them to have their heads clean shaved though there are alternative means to look smart looks an intriguing point and reviewing this stand would definitely provide them relief. If the male crew members are advised to wear headgear accordingly to the colours prescribed by the management, they might feel comfortable.

A shaven and completely bald look definitely looks smarter than a partially bald pate. Air India cannot be faulted on this count. As for the headgear, I am sure the male staff would not be too keen to wear it. It's really cumbersome and uncomfortable to wear a headgear all the time while performing your duties. For the female staff, a headgear adds to their looks and also holds their long hair. In any case, there is very less likelihood of a person being bald among the staff, as the cabin crew personnel selected are mostly young. So chances of a cabin crew person being bald or having grey hair is rare. Air India is trying its best to come up as a world-class airline. Let's hope for the best. It will be a pride moment for all of us if it becomes reality one day.
