Students are to be prepared for self employment

Employment opportunities in our country as well as in many other parts of the world are decreasing day by day. The main reasons attributed for this are increasing population, increasing automation, and increasing availability of qualified people.
So, though some meritorious students are able to get jobs in the industry but the other mediocre ones are not able to secure a job even for their livelihood.
In this situation we have to prepare the students for self employment and parents as well as the education system in our country have to make concerted efforts. The importance of going for self employment should be inculcated in the minds of the students in the school level itself. Parents also have to accept this fact and motivate and increase their children for the same.
What are the opinions of the members in this regard? Please share.

Yes. Author is right. We can find everywhere there is no paper work. All our daily routines we can do it on line itself.

Few decades back irrespective of the family background, everyone longing for government jobs. The main reason is govt jibs are safe and secured. The main attraction is pension
govt servant can get it through out the life time,.

Early 21st century people are looking for campus placement to settle in the life.

In both the cases, wish to live in comfort zone after finishing the degree.

The main problem with our parent is they doon't have any big dream of their son or daughter to start own business. If they start also, jump in to the conclusion, that uncertain income, loss, etc.

For the past many years, present generation seeing the market, the mind set is wish to start the own business based on the skills/available resources while studying itself.

Now modern parent supporting and encouraging children too. Its a good sign. We all know our country are in the hands of youth and younger generations.

It is high time, we all have to motivate and encourage them and provide a conducive atmosphere. When things goes well, our country is one of the super power nation within next ten years.

There is a lot of scope and an opportunity wide open for new enterprenuers.

This is a point that has been thoroughly discussed many times here. Employment opportunities are not in proportion to the requirement as there is a heavy increase in population. More colleges are coming and many young people are getting qualified and searching for jobs and not able to get a suitable job.
The mindset of many students is that education is for obtaining a job only. They never think about self-employment or other ways for earning legally. They think that starting an enterprise on their own will be a risk for them. If it is a job they think that their salary is ensured.
The education system should be changed in such a way that by the time a student completes his education, he will acquire some skills as well as some level of confidence in them. Once that confidence comes, they can think of starting some business so that they can earn their livelihood.

In Tamil there was a phrase, 'Kaiththozhil ondrai katrukkoL' which means a craft should be learned by every one. Till 1973, there was pre university course in academic colleges and at the same time in the polytechnics there was a course called Pre technical Course. By studying PTC students joined some technical diploma courses with which they can proceed to Engineering Colleges, if facilitated. Those who are not possible to pursue Engineering college degree, are availed technical apprentice job in the trade they studied in private engineering companies. With that apprenticeship training they move to higher posts in the same company. But nowadays the trend is somehow got decreased and many preferred academic courses then strived to get an employment along with other academic outcomes. Many of them thinking the technical courses are for those who cannot cope up with academic ones. If they finish the technical courses they can be in the level of setting up of their own companies/foundries etc., and they become an entrepreneur and can give employment to others also.

That's so true. It is need of an hour to prepare pupils for upcoming years not as a competitor but as a contributor. For that being a teacher I try to find interest of childrens and open up their mind if they get indulge in restricted mindset. Combining their interest and foundational support can make them self employed.
