My attachement to rivers and oceans.

Being born and brought up nearer to the Merina beach in the metro city of Chennai, I always have an inclination towards ocean. So far I have enjoyed beaches in Chennai (Merina), Mumbai (Juhu), Cochin (Cherai) and Kanyakumari where all the three oceans(Bay of Bengal, Arabian Sea and Indian ocean) meet. Visited this temple (Viswamithra) which is nearer to seashore in Vijayapathi, Tirunelveli nearer to Koodankulam Nuclear power plant. Also in Karnataka I have visited these beaches where they are attached with pilgrim (Murudeswar and Gokarna). But at the same time, I could not take dip bath in the rivers like others in my family who have born and brought up in the villages and always they will make fun when we go to villages and they all have a dip in rivers. So in the case of Ganges during my visits in Kashi and Haridwar where people have a holy dip in the river, I could do it only with the help of others who hold me during the process.

I have taken dip in the famous Maha Magham tank during the last 2016 Maha Maga festival happened once in every 12 years in Kumbakonam, a city in Tamilnadu which will have Cauvery river water diverted to the tank. Also I have taken a dip in the Tamirabarani river(in Tamilnadu) during the last 2018 Maha Pushkaram happened once in 144 years.

With this inclination on rivers and oceans, I have even raised threads here whenever contests occurs, once on a page I have written on the Atlas Page and during the question contest, I have set the questions for a Geography teacher which has a question on Ocean. One more thread is on the Cauvery river speaking about herself.

This is my thread on the word pairs Rivers and Oceans

People who stay in areas where there are no rivers and oceans will have more attraction towards rivers and oceans. But people who live very near these oceans and rivers will make them a part of their lives. I stayed in a village which is very adjacent to the Godavari river. People there will have a lot of attachment towards that river. On any normal day also, they will be going to the river and have their bath there. That will be a common matter for them.
Really having a bath in a river or ocean is an experience which is unique and can't be forgotten. Even in cold weather, we feel cold only till we completely get into the water. The moment we dip into the water, the water will be warm and we never feel cold. Many times I experienced this. Travelling on a small boat in the flowing waters is another experience which makes us get thrilled.

That's so true. Since, 2009 staying in Jabalpur M.P which is a city on the bank of river Narmada. It has great religious importance people takes dip into it with the thought that will wash off their sins. But personally what I feel is even without taking a bath it makes us so light while sitting there we just become a part of it.

I had been to once Alahabad, (Prayagraj) where I had a holy bath in Thiriveni Sangam. We hired a boat and went where three rivers amalgamates,

In the recen past had been to Rameshwaram,

In my life now sailing in the mid of the sea, once my commercial commitments are over wish to travel length and breath of the country to see temples of our Vaishava and Saiva. and wish to take holy both all the rivers.

I pray Almighty to for the same

I was born and brought up near bank of river Kshipra, Ujjain where crore of devotees take a dip at a time of kumbh mela once in 12 years. Then I started my job in Mumbai near Marine drive, near the Arabian ocean.

Taking a dip in River or sitting in bank of river or oceans makes our soul very peaceful, makes spiritual and mental health good. That's why we call them god, we do puja there.

Whatever impurity we throw in river/sea, its self purification method of oxidation removes all dirt in period of time, that gives us the lesson of humbleness. Most pilgrimage centers are located near rivers/ sea, that give us the idea of its greatness.

Water is the elixir of our lives and a sight of river or ocean is always very interesting, enchanting, and is bringing happiness to us.
During my childhood I lived in a hill town where there were many small rivulets flowing across the lows in the valley. On holidays we used to visit them and pass time on the sides either playing or chit chatting. I still remember that serene environment where there was no pollution, no noise and what we had was only the chirping of birds, whistling of wind, and slight murmuring of flowing water.

    Knowledge is power.
