Different understanding of learn and earn

Whenever we hear about these two words, learn and earn together most of the time our mind creates a picture of a guy who is pursuing his higher studies and doing some sort of part-time work to follow his passion and earn a meager amount. But why do we fail to apply this while we are doing our regular job? Stagnancy in our job or business occurs only because we resist learning. We should also read them as earn and learn, i.e. true content is we should also focus on learning while we are doing some highly reputed job. At that place, we always blame our seniors for not promoting us, but the real problem lies in ourselves. We stop learning and hence life stops giving us new opportunities. So, always start a new day with new learnings leading to a new way in life.

The author has raised a thought-provoking point that we are sometimes not learning new things and that is the only reason why we are not progressing in our lives. I agree with that point because many people have lethargy and inherent resistance to learning.
They will say that what is the advantage of learning when they are already earning sufficient amounts for their livelihood why they should bother and why not pass their lives happily without any stress or strain of learning new things.
So there is no point in blaming others for our career block. We have done it ourselves by not resorting to learning newer and newer things and progressing in our careers.
That is the reason why many organizations are forcing short-term training and refresher courses on their employees so that they should come out of their comfort zone and try to learn new things.

    Knowledge is power.

This involves two concepts One is to learn while you are earning and that will be useful to progress in your career and profession. That we can say Earn and learn. The second concept is to earn some money while you are learning and that amount will be useful for your studies and you will not become a burden to parents and we can go to higher studies. This can be said to Learn and earn. In the first concept earning is the priority and in the second concept learning is the priority.
These days learning and improving our skills related to our field of work has become very essential and the requirement is high in the IT field where continuous development and changes will be taking place. The employees should update their knowledge so that their organisation will run well in turn the employees will also have a good future. If we are not getting updated there is a problem the organisation may check us out. So learn and earn as well as earn and learn are equally important these days.

It is really a sad fact that we remain no more interested to know more complexities of the jobs with which we remain attached. We are doing stereo type jobs every day with the monotonous activities since it is our daily activities. No curiosities are seen in such a job performance nor do we learn the other techniques to improve upon our working knowledge skills either. What the author has stressed that there is always scope of updating our concepts with the reference to so many texts books available in the libraries or from other sources. Even there is no harm in understanding the varied doubts from our boss in case we show our eagerness to update ourselves. Blaming the boss for not providing us promotions should not come in the way but we gear up ourselves for acquiring more job related skills with the different sources.

It is true that we become stagnant if we do not learn and that's applicable to organizations too. According to the demand, priorities should change. One may be an expert in a specific technology but if there are few takers of that technology at present and in the coming days then it's always better to master different skills. While earning is important it is equally important to remain updated nowadays as rightly pointed out by Dr Rao in his response. Progress should not be limited to promotions and earning more but must also include the broadening of our horizons.
