Is the fast food culture on its wane?

A couple of years ago, there were too many non vegetarian restaurants that seemingly supplied some kind of non-veg food and some veg food as well. There was a craze to some extent.

Today, somehow that is missing. For breakfast, in particular, everywhere one does notice that there are specialized restaurants. Is this true? For example, there is the Chettinad cusine and the Panjabi dhabha types that are coming up everywhere.

The fast food culture is seemingly on its wane. Members who have had some experience of the recent changes may please provide some details of their experiences in their areas.

I am not finding much difference. However, my exposure may be less than that of the author. During the pandemic, many fast food centres were closed. People were not showing interest in those items in those days. But slowly people are coming back to normalcy.
Many mobile restaurants on roadsides are seen nowadays. In the mornings as well as in the evenings, we see a lot of gathering near such hotels. Many curry points are delivering Rotis also with curries. Many are preferring these dishes and enjoy the food.
This is mostly what I observed in AP and Telangana. Even in rural areas also many small hotels cropped up and people started taking tiffins in the mornings there. The farmers in the villages are getting tiffin and lunch for their workers from these small hotels only.

Many specialized small eateries are propping up everywhere. In our neighborhood in the Navi Mumbai area, we are seeing many small shops offering Momos or Idli-dosa or Vada pav or Bread pakora or Golgappa or Bhel puri, and so on.
Some eateries offer 3-4 items while some restrict to only 1-2.
Most of the shops are like that only. Then the main restaurants are there which provide exhaustive menus offering various items and people go there once in a while with family.
Because of increasing number of small eateries the rush in main restaurants have gone down.

    Knowledge is power.

I have heard and seen many street food vendors in Nagpur, Pune and Mumbai of Maharashtra. Street Idli shops are very common in Madurai and other towns of Tamil Nadu. Now that I have seen on my recent visit to Hyderabad many mobile restaurants from Mehdipatnam to Moinabad. Many people are eating in such restaurants. Many big hotels contains both vegetarian and non-vegetarian foods.

The entire eatery business was affected due to corona phase two years back but now thanks to God that such an unfortunate phase is over. Again the eatery business is picking up and we could see the rush of the food lovers turning up for their choices for the different stuff. In that way, both the customers and sellers enjoy this favourable phase. They vendors are trying their best to compensate the losses occurred in the past with wooing the customers with varied items. The certain percentage of customers are visiting restaurants weekly or fortnightly to appease their taste buds but the attendance in such restaurants are lesser than that of street vendors due prohibitive rates. Let this business flourish so that both the parties- customers and restaurants can survive.
