Idea to Encourage Members to contribute more on ISC Forum.

    Hey,

I want to suggest one Idea to Encourage Members to contribute more on ISC Forum. My Idea is for forum posting. Suggestion is .
If any member post any question to forum if its approved by ISC then people will start answering to the question if answers approved and ISC given some cash credit to answer then 5% or 10% of answered cash credit should go to person who posted question because due to question they able to earn for answer so many question many answer more traffic and more earning.
At last who posted question can earn more than answer credit. Its only suggestion I hope it could give new energy and excitement to members and friends.
ISC Implement or not but please tell me how is my idea. Thanks.

Already questions are being rewarded in the Ask Expert section. Earlier they were giving CC to questions but in between, it was stopped. Now again it is restarted. If somebody posts a thread in the Forum section and that forum question is fit to get shifted to the Ask Expert section, the Editors are doing that and these shifted questions are also being given CC.

I don't think all the forum postings are reviewed by the editors. If it is to be done, they have to spend a lot of time here. I may be wrong but it is my assumption only. As replies should also be reviewed by the editors and then they decide on giving CC to them. I don't know how far is feasible. The editorial team should think about the pros and cons. I welcome your suggestion.

I also feel that this aspect has already been covered under the ask experts section where we are seeing good number of questions and their answers by a good number of members. Forum is a dynamic place where new posts continuously come and any remunerative checking and judging of each post will slow down the forum section which might be detrimental to its growth.
The forum posts and responses are already being given points and cc in a variety of ways through various contests (like thread of the fortnight) or otherwise. So as per my understanding further award of cc to them may not look feasible.
Any idea or measure that can bring novel forum posts in good numbers would be welcome and all of us can try in that direction. At the end of the day what matters is number of views a page gets and that is where quality and value of a particular post or information comes in picture.

The suggestion of the author needs to be reviewed by the team of editors. In a particular thread, there might be postings somewhere between five and seven. By going through all the responses of a particular posting, it might be a lot of time consuming process on the part of editors apart from their patience. In the situations when the strength is bare minimum, we could put them in stress in reviewing the responses. This issue needs critical examination before a final decision could be taken.
The author is right that some monetary benefits might motivate the members to some extent to make up minds for their enhanced responses in the Forum Posts.

Sincere suggestions for improving the better reach and growth of the site is welcome.
However while members can suggest positive ideas coming to their mind it is for the site managers, WM etc. to evaluate and accept and implement depending on their feasibility and utility.

Regarding the present suggestion, there have been suggestions and discussions in earlier times too. Though cc is not given as a routine for forum threads, selected forum threads are given cash credits. In case a forum thread is selected as topic for active GD contest, then that thread is given a cash credit of 30. Moreover some forum contests also facilitate cash credits.

In this particular suggestion the suggestion actually links and relates the cash credit of answer to be distributed to question also. That does not appear logical in forum threads. But there is already an inbuilt mechanism that the participants in the thread get a share of the overall revenue. (which may not be visible and reckonable at micro level). However it is stated many times that forum section does not generate much revenue in comparison to some other sections, Even then some forum posts are given some cash credits.
Indirectly also forum threads stand a chance to get more cash credits in the form of revenue share bonus if the author comes within ten top point scorers for content.
I think the best alternative for sincere members is to contribute consistently irrespective of cash credit or not. Then, naturally we may hope that when the site gets more revenue, the members also will be rewarded suitably.

Very recently AE questions are being awarded cash credits, though in early times even though there were suggestions it was not accepted. So there are review and evaluation of suggestions and ideas and some of them are suitably implemented at proper time and contexts. Sometimes even good suggestions were also awarded with cash credit.
I hope this thread can propel more positive actionable practical suggestions.

    Santosh Kumar Singh,

Forum is a place to discuss a lot of things and one can post a variety of topics here. For questions, there is already the Ask Experts section and members posting the questions and responses are given CCs suitably according to the quality of the answers and the types of questions. Forum is also the right place to hone writing skills.

I do agree that providing CCs does encourage members but we also need to see from where the revenue is coming. We all are paid CCs, RSBs, etc from the total revenue ISC generates through posts that have the potential to get more viewers and advertisements and since the thrust is now more on Academics one can earn through articles/posts that are related to education. Forum posts are paid CCs according to the potential it has and the same is applicable to other sections also. Your proposed idea is already there in the Ask Experts section and I don't think it will be a good idea to make the Forum section a duplicate of the AE section.

Santosh, keeping the viability part of your suggestion aside for the time being, could you clarify one point? As per your suggestion 5 or 10% of cash credits given to responses must be assigned to the author raising the question. My query is as to whether the 5 or 10% should be deducted from the person posting the response or should it be given additionally?

I distinctly remember that such a point was sometime earlier mooted by Mr Mohan though it was then sought as a right and was not a suggestion.
