The world is a great school

In one's childhood, one learns from parents and family members. Then one goes to the nursery and learns to play with other children and is introduced to many educational toys and games. After that one goes to school and starts acquiring formal education. This learning goes on like that. Apart from school and college students learn a great deal from other sources like TV, media, society, friends, relatives, and so on. From that aspect, the surroundings become a great teacher as the child learns many things from the nature and habitat where one lives. The child grows up in an environment where the world around him acts like a school.

What are your thoughts in this regard?

Yes. I agree with the author this universe is a place for learning. By the time we come onto this earth, we know nothing. From the moment we are born, we start learning. Learning will come through interaction. This interaction may be with parents, family members, friends and society. How much you learn will be dependent on your capacity and interest.
There are different institutions of learning starting from Primary school to university. But this university is a combination of all this and above all these institutions.
There are many areas from where we can learn. By hearing others when they speak, by watching when they sing and dance even we may learn to quarrel by seeing others who are quarrelling.
When I am in the house if there is any requirement I call my driver and ask him to get it from the market. By seeing this, my granddaughter who is 2 years old, started calling my driver when she wants any item for her use. That is how people learn from others.

I want to further stress that students who are too busy with their studies should be from time to time exposed to society and outside world whenever an opportunity is there.
    Knowledge is power.

When we were in our school, we used to go to some new places for excursions. All the students used to spend one or two days together and some teachers used to accompany them. The very purpose of these excursions is nothing but socialization and understanding the way we have to behave in a group. Similarly, we used to attend sports meets and scout camps. These also are very useful to enhance our skills and to understand the way we have to live in a society with different types of people. These days also I hope students will be having these events.

Yes, as pointed by Rao sir, nowadays there are very small number of schools opting tour or visit to important places. She I visited Padmanabhapuram Palace, near Kanyakumari, more than 50 Government school students from Tenkasi have come. The teachers explained everything to them in a classic manner.
As told by the author, if no schools are arranging, at least parents should have taken their children to nearby museums, historical places to the possible extent. Initially there might be less interest in them but day by day it helps them to enrich their knowledge as there are many things in this world to learn.
