When the going gets tough, the tough get going

Life has been difficult for me over the last three months, and it has turned my world upside down. It felt like the end of the world at times, but my inner voice reminded me that this was not the way I could give up.

The problem started when I started getting frequent fevers and back pain; I started losing weight and muscle, and it got worse when I couldn't eat properly. I went to some good doctors, but none of them could find my problem, and it was only when I did the ultrasonography suggested by a hospital doctor that it was discovered that I had a tumour in my body, which needed to be removed immediately. I had an operation, and the tumour was removed, but it was not the end of my problem but started a new one. My doctor said that cancer has spread in my stomach and I need to go for chemotherapeutic treatment. My biopsy report is yet to come, and as soon as it does, my doctor can start the proper treatment.

I missed being able to come online and share my feelings with you all, despite the fact that I was not online in ISC but used to read forum posts every day. This post is not to get sympathy but to let you all, my friends, know that no matter how hard or tough a time I get in my life in the coming days, I have to win the battle and comeback soon to my daily routine. My friends and family, and not to forget my boss and my coworkers, all stood with me in this tough time, and I am really thankful to all of them that they all did not let me feel demotivated. I have often said in forum posts that more than the medicines, it is the will power that helps to cure any disease. The time has come for me to do the same.

Jeets, you will win the battle. You are going through a very tough situation for the past three months and we all hope to see you back in action and doing your normal activities. You have strong willpower that helped you to write this post and don't be demotivated. Follow the advice of the doctors strictly and with proper treatment and care I am sure things will be normal. Whenever you can you post here, and share your feelings. We all wish you a speedy recovery.

I was eagerly waiting for your post.

Only today morning I read the present one. Needless to say, not feeling good.

Mr. Jeets, health is more important than anything. I wish you a speedy recovery and back to your normal routine in a healthy condition.. These days cancer is cured successfully and many people recovered from it. Your strong will is more important. I pray to God, for your speedy recovery.

Jeets, the very title of your thread says it all. This is the time when you have to be mentally prepared to face all odds and come out victorious. Hope and pray that your biopsy report will be negative. These are all part of the tests we have to face in life and apart from medicines and treatment, it is your will power and strong mind that will help you to move ahead. Medical science has come a long way now and one need not be too much worried about such illnesses. Pray, be brave and face it. All the best!

Thank you Sankalan, Partha, KVRR and Saji. This is my 2nd Biopsy report that is yet to come. My other test report has confirmed the illness. However, the most positive thing is that my body is reacting well after the operation. Also, I am very positive that once the treatment starts, I will be fine in 1-2 months. Till then I have enough free time to spend with you all!

You may call it a sixth sense, but just yesterday I was going to check out your profile page to see when you had last logged in and send you a message to inquire if you are ok as we had not seen your presence in the forum and I was surprised not see any entry from you in the micro story contest and the shortest story activity initiated by Partha.

What you are going through is really sad and unfortunate. Wishing you strength in your challenging time. Our prayers and best wishes to you for a speedy, complete recovery.

If you don't mind a suggestion- consult an oncology dietician/oncology nutritionist who specializes in the field of nutrition for cancer patients so that you are able to maintain a proper diet plan and eat foods that would help you fight cancer. Please also inquire with the doctor who is treating you about alternative treatments to chemo, that is, whether chemo is the only option that you have. Further, if you require financial aid for the treatment, do check out the Central Govt./State Govt. schemes. One example is the MJPJAY scheme {]

Jeets, Two days back I had a call from one of our senior members we were just talking about ISC and your name also came in the talk. You are facing a tough time but it will be over shortly. You will be alright. One should not lose hope and should be mentally strong. When we are mentally strong our approach towards the problem will be different and the will be always correct only. You are very strong mentally and nothing will happen. I hope we will see you back active on this platform shortly. It is good to note that your colleagues and boss stood with you during these difficult days.
As advised by Vandana, Consult an oncology nutritionist and take sufficient food that will give you strength. I wish you all the best and a fast recovery.

    always confident

Jeets @ 768914, let your aim be clear. It is not that you will spend your time with us during treatment but that you will be around for many more years to come. You have a long way to go! Keep the torch burning and do not worry about the hurdles. Look up and straight- there is light at the end!

Jeets, very sorry to have gone through your post where you have indicated your health condition. The best part is you have not lost your heart even in the present distressing conditions.
I am sure you will come back with your existing health issues with the support of the oncologist looking after you. Take care of your health with proper intake of foods as suggested by the dietitian.
I wish you all the best and a fast recovery.

We all understand that you are going through a tough time but I am very sure that with your willpower and determination, you will be out of this situation soon and will be leading a normal life. Health is very important factor in our lives and I understand it well because I had been operated for tumour and some other problems and was admitted in hospital not once but four times in the last 14 years. I was lucky that there was no malignancy. However nowadays good chemo treatments are available and many patients are getting cured and living a normal life.
I wish you quick recovery and see you contributing in ISC as you were doing it earlier.

    Knowledge is power.

Thank you, Vandana, this is the best part of you as a ME of ISC, you always care and enquire about ISC members. Actually, I wanted to come online in the forum when in the hospital but through my mobile phone, I never feel comfortable to type and that is why I waited to come back home and post it through my laptop. Now, I am consulting with a specialist in oncology who has set my diet plan as well, and according to his suggestion, I am following my daily food diet. Only thing is that I am feeling a little weak otherwise there is no issue at all. Once, the report will come then only the doctor can suggest what kind of treatment I require and whether I need chemo or other treatment. So, I am waiting for the report. Thank you for sending me the link, I will do as it needed.

Dr. Rao, This is the good part of being an ISC member that we as a member are connected to each other. If anyone of us is not online for a long time, we do talk about them. Also, having almost 10 years with ISC, we have such bonding that can't be forgotten so easily. Thank you for your concern, I am doing and will follow as suggested by you all and will be fine soon once the treatment starts and I am very positive about it.

Saji, Thank you Saji for such motivated words, I am sure and very positive that I will be alright soon, it is just a matter of time.

Sheo Shankar Jha, Thank you for your concern, right now, I am feeling better and soon all will be alright.

Umesh, This was the first time in my life that I was admitted to a hospital and had any kind of operation. Thankfully it was successful and I had no issues after the operation. Now, whatever result will come I have to accept it and work accordingly suggested by the doctor. I find not much problem with my internal body but feeling weak. I am sure once the treatment starts, I will be alright within 2 months.

Very aptly said, 'When the going gets tough, the tough get going'. Sure Jeets, the above saying is very much applicable to you. No matter how much tough it is for you, you will have to get going and win this battle. That the fighter you are, I am sure you will win, no doubt about that. Moreover, you are a musician. And we all know music is a great healer. So apart from following the treatment procedure as advised by your doctors, you may also take to music for hastening the healing process. I think you play the guitar, right? So whenever you find some free time, play it for whatever duration you feel like. Will help, for sure, I hope. Surrounding yourself with positive thoughts will help too, as will connecting with friends, even online ones like us in ISC. As such, continue with your contributions, whenever you feel like writing. Take care.
    Patience and perseverance pays
