    Make FSSAI registration compulsory everywhere

There is a branded outlet for the best quality sweets and snacks called the Grand Sweets at Adyar, Chennai. Today, there are so many outlets for this brand.

The late founder would never ever reuse the heated oil, with which he would prepare the snacks. The public would be able to see the method used to discard the used oil, every single day. Even today, the outlet follows the same policy. The brand has a range of sweets and snacks. The cost is very high, but people who have money keep on encouraging the brand.

Cut to the unorganized sector, Thousands of mobile shops provide very cheap food, but reused oil, even for making puri and the vada is so common. This leads to several ailments. The food is cheap, but the quality of the food is not good at all. If the Government gives some concession in terms of cheap palm oil, with clear checks on whether it is reused or not, there will be some improvement. FSSAI registration should be made compulsory, even for small shops. And the checking should be done on an every day basis.

It is a good suggestion by the author but some practical difficulties are there. In our country there are many street vendors for food supply and we, if mandatorily stress the Fssai, real and genuine vendors on foo(d)t path will get vanished but the cheating vendors will exist by adjusting the fssai. The Fssai authorities, if, have an eye on the registered vendors itself a great job to protect the consumers.

I agree with the author. But we need not insist for FSSAI registration. Food Safety and Standards Authority of India should continue its inspection with an open eye and see that the food making people who are not following the procedures should not be allowed to continue the business. But that is not happening. Many food inspectors will have an understanding with people and manage. The same situation continue even if we have FSSAI registration.
The main problem comes with the people. They don't want to pay a little more to get quality product. They opt for low priced items only. When public wants items for a low price, business people will resort to cheap practices only.
Health conscious people will never go for such food and they prefer home made food. Otherwise they will go for quality product only.

A good thought raised by the author. FSSAI certification had brought great control in the food and beverage industry but unfortunately, it does not cover the various fresh food and food suppliers. The reason for this might be that these outlets claim that they supply fresh food and not packaged one. So FSSAI should be made compulsory for all of these players also. Alternatively, they can be covered under some other regulation.
    Knowledge is power.
