The threat of getting fired in private sector

Due to the reduction in government jobs, after wide-scale privatization in our country, most of the jobs are now cropping up only in the private sector. Even in existing government departments third-party private services are being availed for various purposes. Whenever private companies or enterprises are expanding they start hiring people in good numbers to manage their operations and services but there are so many companies and so many business houses that are engaged in the same work and there is stiff competition. In such a situation it is possible that a company may not be able to stand in the market and make the appropriate profit to sustain its operations. In such cases, the only resort left with the company is to fire some of its employees and reduce expenses to improve the bottom line. So the threat of getting fired is so much in private companies that the employees are always afraid of that.
I have seen in some of the big departmental stores in my area that a good number of people are employed who are mostly young boys and girls either arranging the goods or working at billing counters.
In a big store in my area, there are about 60 boys and girls working and even with a minimum salary of Rs 12000 per month the store requires at least rupees 7 lacks per month for their salaries. Over and above that store has got big expenses like electricity charges, maintenance charges, rent of the premises, etc.
There are huge inputs required in this type of business and that is the reason why many big stores or companies are firing employees or closing down and shifting to other better places where there are finding better sales prospects.

The author has presented the issues which we all observing these times. There are talented and active young people of both the genders working their best to achieve the targets as set by their companies but they remain under stress when they will be fired in one fine morning for their no faults. They have seen such trends in their own departments for sometime and it is happening because of sales drops in their own departmental store. They also remain in touch with their colleagues working in other private sectors but the atmosphere where they are putting their service is no better than the present place.
This indicates that there is no more expansion of economy but we all are cautious for more slump in the time ahead and as such they are curtailing their expenses to their level best. This has the rippled effects on the workforce often creating negativity and frustration among them. This might be a temporary cyclic phase and would not last for long. Let us hope so.

It is sure that private sector will boom in the coming years in terms of job vacancy and requirement. Governments are cutting down their vacancies and many government sectors are changing into private sectors. Also, the pension scheme, which is the main attraction towards government sector is changing due to the new policies from the central and state governments.

The firing in private sector can be term in both ways. You can be do your job in any way and without any discipline in government sector. Once you in, you don't want to give 100% there, that is the common practice. But it cannot do in private sector. So, there will be some firing.

That is one of the differences between a government job and a private job. There is no job security. But at the same time what I experienced in the private sector is there is no limit to growth for a person who is very professional and loyal.
If the company is getting closed down irrespective of your performance you may also lose your job. In such a case, with your experience and capability, you can try and get into another job. We see people changing jobs easily in the private sector but that is not easy in government jobs.
Many private companies started taking people for specific projects only. You will be assigned a project and once it is completed you may not be asked to continue further if there is no new project with them.
These issues are very common in the private sector and employees also demand remuneration keeping all such issues in mind.
