Let's cheer the young ladies in the U19 T20 World Cup final!

The U19 T20 World Cup has been playing out in South Africa. This is the very first edition and our team has played brilliantly. Our young ladies in blue lost just one match and made a convincing win over New Zealand in the semifinals to reach the final that will take place in Senwes Park, Potchefstroom. Today they play against England who won with a slim margin of three runs over Australia in the other semifinal.

The team is led by 19-year-old Shafali Varma, who also plays for the national women's team. It is wonderful to know that 18-year-old Shweta Sehrawat has scored the highest number of runs so far, with 292 runs in six matches.

Coached by Nooshin Al Khadeer, the others in the India team are Richa Ghosh (wicketkeeper), G. Trisha, Soumya Tiwari, Sonia Mendhiya, Hurley Gala, Hrishita Basu, Sonam Yadav, Mannat Kashyap, Archana Devi, Parshavi Chopra, Titas Sadhu, Falak Naz, and Shabnam MD.

The match is after 5 p.m. so if you have the Star Sports network, do watch - and cheer heartily! I will be keeping track of the scores since I don't have Cable TV and it does not seem to be streaming live on Disney+Hotstar unfortunately.

I wish all the best to the U19 T 20 Indian team which is going to play in the finals of this tournament. These days we are seeing a very good performance from Indian ladies also. Now this victory will prove again that Indian ladies are good in all areas and they can go past the Indian team in many areas. I hope and wish that the Indian team will play to its maximum potential and win the cup. All the best to them.

Congratulations India. The Indian women u19 team won the world cup in T 20. An alround display by all the players made this possible. This is for the first time Indian women u19 team won the same.

Hurray! The young ladies won the trophy! The bowlers restricted the opponents to a really small total. Perhaps England thought, after taking early wickets, that they could defend it as they did in the semifinal against Australia, but our ladies did not give them the opportunity, winning convincingly. Well done, girls!

Let us hope the seniors, too, lift the World Cup which begins on 10th February. This competition, like the U-10 Cup, will be hosted by South Africa, and India's first game is on the 12th against Pakistan.
