The present personalities themselves made us to forget durable
In those days almost everybody enquire in the shops about the durability of their purchasing materials in order to keep the items for years together.Presently the word durable is getting vanished as everybody interested in items as 'use and throw'. Nobody is asking the durability of the products while buying the same in the shops. Moreover, many of us buying products through online where they are not considering the word durable.
Many of us throwing the items stored for our use by our elders as they think that they are obsolete.
When I shifted our house, I got a wrist watch of my father in a box. Though the watch was got damaged in water, the chain was very good. So, I want to keep the chain into my presently using watch. I took the watch and the chain to a watch service center for attaching the chain into my watch. He simply refused to do so as the pin for linking the watch and chain is not available. Subsequently he suggested to keep the existing strap and dispose the chain. I believed his word and kept in my suitcase. When I went to Madurai, casually I saw the chain in the box and I took the same to a watch repairer in Madurai. His shop was very small. I showed the watch and chain to link. He, the person, in the shop silently searched his drawer ,found a pin and linked the chain into the watch simply. He handed over the same to the shop in charge for billing. The shop in charge asked me about the chain and I told him that that was my father's old watch. He told a surprising news that the chain was made in 1955 and advised me not to lost the same.
Last month I took my induction stove (bough one year back) for repair as it was not functioning well. The repairer simply saw me top to bottom and told me to dispose the same as repairing cost would equal to a new one.
So, the present personalities themselves made us to forget durable.
