Is BharOS-India’s own Operating System- going to be a game-changer and challenge?

In the noise about Chat GPT, many of us failed to notice a new star rising: BharOS-India's own Operating System. Aptly named (meaning Bharat Operating System) BharOS kindles not just the Indian national spirit like that of Make In India logo but has the promise or expectation of a lot of things which will be beneficial to users.

However, the significant one to be noted is whether this will be a challenger, competitor, rival or a better alternative to Android and so a big challenge to not only Google but to other OS too.
I feel it is going to be a paradigm development because till now though we are one of the largest users of various monopoly operating systems none of them is of purely Indian origin. That way we have to be under pressure and dependence. The recent issue of penalties to Google or other monopolistic service providers has to be evaluated in this background. As far as we do not have something of our own especially when it is essential and unavoidable, we have to succumb to various pressures and lose our independence in many matters. Though there may be many issues which may arise initially, I feel confident that BharOS will be the notable game changer and challenge in 2023. Members, please discuss.

It will be known only when BharOS becomes available to all mobile users in our country. According to its developers, presently BharOS is permitted to be used in organizations dealing with highly secure and sensitive data. BharOS is developed using the same Linux Kernel as in the case of Android but more choices are given to the users here as this will be free from any pre-installed apps. Users will select and download the apps they wish to use. For BharOS, Private App Store Services (PASS) will give the necessary access to the apps which meet certain criteria for privacy and security thus ensuring the installation of apps which are absolutely safe and secure. In today's environment security of personal data is necessary and in that case, it seems BharOS has an edge.

Though it is not known when it will be available in general, it is hoped users will give it a warm welcome.

We have to wait and see, how it will turn out. Many people don't know about this BharOS. Only some companies are using them as mentioned by Sankalan.
It is nor going to happen that fast. This is to be tested thoroughly and once the users are satisfied, then it may be made available to other users also.
I wish that this should work and should give a tough competition to other operating Syatems. India is a big market and Indian government enforces that the Indian made only should be used. Many mobile manufacturers has to go for this operating system.
Let us wish and hope that we all will use this OS shortly and producly say make in India is a success in this respect.

IIT Madras under funding from Government of India has designed this operating system called BharOS. This is just like the existing OS systems (Android or iOS) being used in smartphones but only difference is that it is more safe and secure and will only install the application after checking its security and safety parameters. With the introduction of BharOS, India will have its independent operating system and platform for using in the smartphones. Presently it is limited to some organisational use but once it is made available for use by individual or by general public then it will become popular and will be in demand.
After that we will not be forced to use Android or iOS in our smartphone as we would be happy to use our own indigenous operating system. I feel this is a very good step in the direction of digital India and hope that more such initiatives will be rolled out in future.
