Oh no! a cat has crossed my path. I am not going to buy the expensive item today.

Have you ever done such a thing? Are you superstitious? Some people still believe in what our ancestors used to follow. Some people consider some days to be auspicious. Some people wear only a particular attire because they think it is lucky. Some people have lucky numbers.
There are plenty of things that some people follow even now. You may call these people superstitious or blind belief.
Are you also a part of this group?

Being superstitious or believing in such things is inculcated in us during our growing up time. A child picks these beliefs and ideas from one's parents and society around. Once these are firmly placed in the mind of the child then these things remain there for the lifetime.
There are some people who after getting maturity discard these things from their minds and do not believe in such things. But such people are less in number as compared to those who believe in not only the 'cat crossing the road' phenomena but many things which are similar in nature and these people follow it blindly.

    Knowledge is power.

That's absolutely up to you whether to buy them or not! I do not know whether all our ancestors followed those things or not but when someone is following something, whether you call it superstition or not, I think there is a logic behind such actions. When you consider a specific day as auspicious there must be a reason behind it. Now, why does one engage in such things? Either they blindly follow it from others without knowing the reason or they may have experienced something because of which they continued following it. For example, someone may have experienced that wearing a particular dress always gives her/him the desired result and based on that she/he wears the dress whenever there is an important task. I feel if you are clear about what you are doing there is no need to call it superstition. But if you are not aware of it and do it just because you have seen someone doing it then you need to think again and ask yourself why are you doing such things. If you are unable to find an answer then you must resist yourself before carrying out such acts.

Normally, if I go to regular work and on the way, a cat crosses my path, I do not much bother. However, if I am going for some important work, I do follow and wait for others to cross it first and then I move. I don't know whether you call it superstition or anything but I do what I feel is better for me. Yes, I do wear some cloth which I feel lucky, I wear my birthstone which I feel is lucky for me. So, it is very natural for human beings to do what they feel happy to do as long as it feels good for them.

This is so called 'superstition', right. This is mainly followed by only following persons. A spiritual person told such symptoms would be seen to those following and for those to be followed.

I can' t say them as superstitions. They are beliefs. These beliefs might have come either from their elders or they might have firmed with our own experiences.
I will tell you one of my personal experience. One day my father asked me to postpone my journey by one day as that day was not auspicious for my travel. But I was in an urgency and somehow convinced him and started. But on the way, there was a delay and I missed my train and I was forced to comeback home and go the next day. From then onwards I started asking my father before I book my ticket.
Even today many people believe that a cat coming across while travelling is not auspicious. My wife will see for a good Oman before starting her travel from the house. She will be advising others also to do that.
