Accurate details are essential when submitting content - updated on 5th March 2023

When submitting content across all sections of ISC, all of us should take care that we are putting in accurate details, however minor. For example, when submitting an article on admission, it is necessary to provide the accurate eligibility criteria, when the admission will close, etc.

This thread alert is specifically for the jobs section. The editors have found that in some job posts, while the newspaper edition is correctly given, other details are not accurate. For example, the page number is not the one where the advertisement appears, or the email ID or phone number that is given in the advt. has typo, etc. Please understand that every bit of information that you provide is important, no matter how minor you may consider it to be. As of now, the editor may correct such minor details, but note that you are expected to be responsible to give accurate information. So do make it a point not to be hasty and after submitting, double-check the post and make corrections where necessary.

As of tomorrow (3rd March), if any inaccurate data is found, the post may be shifted to pending or even deleted. We do not want complaints coming to the admin. from educational institutes and putting the authenticity of the content on our site in jeopardy. Also, in case the editor requires clarification from you, whether about the details given in the post or about the source, please respond to the message sent to you within two days.

An important update- Starting tomorrow, a job post must mention the paper link or official website link with the published date as a reference in the source. That is, the URL of the source should be given, with the published date clearly part of it. In case the URL itself does not have the date, then at least when it is opened, the newspaper's date should be seen on it. This is to ensure that we are having current vacancies only and not outdated ones. In the case of taking from the website's career section, too, the URL should be given, and, on the recruitment notification page, the published date should be there (in case the published date is not given, then the last date to submit applications should be clearly seen in the notification).

We are putting this update in our jobs FAQ as well.

Most important - Ensure that you regularly check the email that you have provided at your ISC profile account so that you do not miss out on any important messages from the admin. or editors.

These errors generally happen because of the haste and hurry that is so common in the contributors (including myself). We are too excited and too much ambitious after submitting the content but do not check it thoroughly before submitting.
One thing that I am trying to fight with this laxity is that once the content is completed let us take a break for a few minutes and stretch our hands and then after a few deep breaths check the content and I am sure most of us will get a few errors there.
So let us try that and best of luck.

Thanks for sharing useful guidelines to improve our content but sometimes, I confused to see the different page numbers between epaper and hard copy of any Newspaper then what to do?

    Phagu Mahato,

If and only if there is a difference as you stated, I have a suggestion. You could put it like this if the source is the epaper- Reference- XYZ e-paper, city, date, page number. If it is not the e-paper, the job editor would understand that it is the hard copy that has been referred to. The candidate would also understand that you have referred to the online source for the details. I will discuss this with the jobs editors, too, and we will revert.

As our Managing Editor has mentioned " across all sections of ISC", it means this should apply in the "Forum" too. We as members who are active in the forum, too need to follow strictly this rule. Not all but I know 1-2 members who post content in the forum as per their own personal opinion but they post as if this is the only fact and truth. They can blame anyone or anything without providing any proof just because they do not like someone or something. This should be immediately stopped. When we post any content it is our responsibility that what we post should be correct with proper information and not half-baked.

Thank you Vandana Madam for providing important guidance. Accurate data are always necessary every where. Though I always try to provide accurate data but after the guidelines provided by Vandana madam l assure you that I will provide accurate data and also will check my post for the accuracy.

This site is very specific about the accuracy of the information that is being published here and the editors take special care to see that no wrong information will be placed here. It is very important that we should not give wrong information. All the authors should strictly follow the same. If it is our personal view or opinion we should mention that as our view.
Sometimes we may give information collected from some other source we can refer to that source in the content so that the authenticity of the information will be known based on the source of information.

    Hello Vandana ji
Can we use full scanned page of new paper, uploded on Google Drive and use the link of the same? Every ePaper does not have option to share a link. Now all most all epapers are paid if we use then every one can not view.

    Dinesh Sood,
No, the Google Drive link cannot be accepted. I am aware that some papers do not have the option to share a link. I am also in the same boat. We won't be able to submit jobs like those, that others cannot view.

I suggest to those who are posting jobs to look for the 'share' symbol, as this may be having the link to the specific job and will include the date in it. In some cases, a URL may be very lengthy and go out of the template border on the job page here, so you can give it in the source box, and in the descriptive text mention the paper name, edition, date, and page, like we did when we were not giving the URL in the text.
