Do you like book summary?

Nowadays, there are many apps in the play store which provide the book summary of different books. Generally, it completes in 20-30 minutes. A full book needs some days or hours to complete. Either you can listen to or read the book summary. Generally, I listen to some books a month.

You can read or listen to the book summary of doing your routing work like exercise, walking, etc.

Summary would provide you extract of the entire book but for a sincere reader it is always best to go through the entire book, it is always better. In that way, we can have full glimpses which the author is penning down. The reader would be quite comfortable after reading the full book. Summary can be read to minimise the time but it would not indicate full picture.

When we do not have time for reading the full book then it makes sense to go through the summary either by reading or listening. We are even doing that for movies which we cannot see. We just go through the plot of the movie and get a feel of it.
In fact I prefer to go through the reviews of the books in some reputed sites and get some idea about the book and if feel in its favour then only go through the book.
If someone is interested to go through the reviews of the books then some of the sites where one can search for reviews are - OnlineBookClub, Goodreads, LibraryThing, BookBub, BookLikes, Lovereading, ReedsyDiscovery etc.

I have the habit of reading the preface of the book before start reading the book. If I like the preface and if I feel the book will be useful and interesting, I will continue reading the book. Otherwise, I will stop there and discontinue reading that book.
We will be getting reviews of the books online. These reviews will also tell us about the book. So we can read these reviews also and then can decide whether to go for reading that book or not.
Many authors before publishing their books, will get the opinions of some people who are very good in that field and publish them in the initial pages of their books. These reviews are very good and by reading them we can easily guess how the book is.
I think reading a full book may take a lot of time. So reading the summary or preface or reviews and then going for complete book reading if interested will be a good method, I feel.

I think reading a summary of a book needs 20 to 30 minutes only. It saves our time. But I would suggest that we should make some notes while reading or listing a summary of a book. I have a habit to prepare notes when I listen to or read a summary. When you get time, revise the notes and you would be able to understand the summary again.

So, it is a good idea to prepare notes of summary of books in your own language.

Honesty is the best policy.
