Which is important for a better career? Higher qualifications or experience

After completing graduation these days many students will be in a dilemma. They have two options in front of them. Higher education and job. Which is the best option among these two? Different people will have different answers to this.

We are in a competitive world. Available jobs are less and competition for such jobs is very high. So many students say that they will prefer to join a job after graduation instead of spending another 2 or 3 years for education. They feel that the experience they gained by working will give them an upper edge over fresh college students with PG qualifications. Many employers also give more importance to experienced people for higher responsibilities over higher qualifications.

I feel both qualification and experience will have their own importance and that will depend on the type of career they are aiming for. I like to know the ideas of members of ISC on this aspect.

Qualification and experience both are important for getting a job and making a career. But there is one factor that is to be considered in this matter. Those students who are mediocre in studies should not aspire for higher education as they will not be able to perform better and the whole effort would lead to nowhere. So the students belonging to this category should opt for some certificate or diploma course and get some commensurate job. That would be the best option for them. Once they have gained some experience then they can move to greener pastures. Higher education is for them who have a research oriented mind and who want to do something big in their lives. Higher education is not everyone's cup of tea.
    Knowledge is power.

Qualification and experience both are important for getting a good career or a better job. But in my opinion, nowadays the skills you develop are the most important thing for a better career. I have observed that the multinational company needs skills instead of qualifications. For example, if a student is good in C++ and has a diploma but does not have a degree, he has a good chance to be selected for the job.

But qualifications and experiences count. So, it is better for students to be skilled with qualifications and experience.

    Honesty is the best policy.

Even the higher qualifications people will have to earn experience before they settle into the job. As an example, doctors or engineers, do they get immediately their job after they pass out their respected degrees? No way, they have to work and get the experience before they are handed over their actual job. So, I feel that experience is more important than the higher qualification no matter which field we talk about.

    Hello Sir,

The decision between higher education and job after graduation is a personal choice that depends on various factors, including career goals, financial situation, personal preferences, and the job market. Both options have their own advantages and disadvantages, and students need to weigh these factors before making a decision.

Higher education can provide students with advanced knowledge and skills, which can open up more job opportunities and higher salaries in the long run. Moreover, higher education can also help students develop critical thinking, research, and communication skills, which are highly valued by employers.

On the other hand, job experience can provide students with practical skills and knowledge, which can be highly beneficial in the job market. Working in the industry can help students learn about the latest trends, technologies, and practices, which can be useful in their future careers.

In general, a combination of both higher education and job experience can be highly beneficial in developing a successful career. Higher education can provide the foundation for advanced skills and knowledge, while job experience can provide practical skills and industry-specific knowledge.

Ultimately, the decision between higher education and job experience depends on the individual's career goals and personal preferences. It is important to evaluate the pros and cons of each option and consider how it will help them achieve their long-term career objectives.

    Hello Sir,

    Greetings!

You are correct that both higher education and job experience have their own importance, and the choice between the two ultimately depends on an individual's career goals and personal circumstances.

In some fields, such as medicine, law, and academia, higher education is necessary to enter the profession and advance in one's career. On the other hand, some fields, such as entrepreneurship and creative industries, place more emphasis on practical skills and experience rather than formal education.

Additionally, some individuals may have personal circumstances, such as financial constraints or family obligations, that make pursuing higher education immediately after graduation difficult. In such cases, gaining work experience can be a viable option to gain skills, build a network, and earn a living.

However, it's important to note that the job market is constantly evolving, and having a higher education degree can give an individual an advantage in the long term. It can open up opportunities for higher-paying jobs and career advancement, as well as provide a deeper understanding of a subject area.

In summary, there is no one-size-fits-all answer to whether higher education or job experience is the best option after graduation. It ultimately depends on an individual's career goals, personal circumstances, and the demands of their chosen field.
