Respected members! Do you remember this thread of mine?

Respected members! I raised the following thread on 9th of February:

What is the reason behind this decision?

Please refer to this old thread. Many members, in their responses, talked about 'humanity' and gave other standard responses. They told me India is a matured democracy and helping countries is a noble job, etc. etc. I had to accept all these arguments with extreme reservation.

Today, we have got the following information:-
    (a) Turkey cheated India and supported Pakistan at UNHRC in the name of Muslim brotherhood.
    (b) Turkey said India is vioIating human rights in Kashmir.
    (c) India slammed Turkey for Kashmir comments. Turkey's comment on Kashmir came just days after India launched 'Operation Dost' to help that country and its citizens.

I would now like to know the comments of those idealistic members on today's news. As far as I am concerned, I reiterate the old saying: A dog's tail can never be straight.

    We must learn the lesson.

What to say? What not to? I think it would suffice to repeat the concluding statement by the author that 'a dog's tail can never be straight'.

All said and done, I would like Partha to clarify his statement 'Turkey cheated..'

We are not idealistic. We are people who are humane, who look beyond boundaries, beyond religion, and beyond political ideologies.

I repeat what I stated in that thread- should the citizens of a country suffer when they are in dire straits and need help? Have you forgotten the much-needed aid that we got from other countries in our hour of need at the peak of the Covid crisis in 2021? Not only the UK and the USA, but European countries, too, offered medical aid and oxygen concentrators. Even Pakistan extended a willing hand (though I think it was not accepted). Did these countries bother about the alleged reports of human rights violations or about strained relations between Governments?

It is humanitarian to help even your foe when he is in a difficult situation and hungry. Helping a friend is very common but helping a foe is very uncommon. When a person is dying we will see that some help needed will be done so that he may not die. At that moment we will not see who is that person and whether he is our friend or foe. So I think we should not think that the government did a mistake by helping the foe. But Turkey is really proven to be unfaithful. When everything is alright definitely our government will teach them a lesson and at that moment nobody can find fault with India and the Indian government.
Pandavas were in the forest. Duryodhana went to the forest to create problems for Pandavas even in the forest also. But in the forest another king imprisoned Duryodhana. Then Pandavas helped them and saw that Duryodhana will be out of prison. Even then Duryodhana continued his enmity with Pandavas. Ultimately we all know what happened.

When India sent their team to help in Turkey, it is not to help their Government but the citizen of their country. It has nothing to do with what their Government stand for. I still feel that it is the best decision taken by the Indian Government. We all had seen those videos when the Indian team got applauded by the citizen of Turkey for how and the way our Indian team had helped them. This has sent a direct message to the world that India as a country is ready to help the world in the crisis situation.

As far as the Turkey government and their stand is concerned, I feel with time it will change and change will come from their own people. A government is selected by their citizen and I am hopeful that both the government and the thinking of Turkey for India at the international level will change.

International politics and diplomacy is a complex subject. Many times expert politicians act in certain matters which might not bring the required or expected results and that is a common thing because international politics is affected by various factors including the religious bias. It is a worldwide known fact that certain religions have strong fraternity feelings and that becomes the topmost priority for them. This is one such case but the human help and support that India had shown and provided during this calamity in Turkey and Syria was a great initiative and even if Turkey and Syria does not reciprocate it the whole world has taken a pleasant note of it. Even Turkey would respond in business area in favourable ways but cannot compromise in religious matters due to the obvious reasons of rigidity in their religion.

I humbly remind Vandana Madam, Dr. Rao Sir and Jeets that the Government of a country reflects the attitude of its citizenry.
Only a few years back, 'Aaman ki Asha' people used to say that the Government and Army of Pakistan are bad, but Pakistani people (awaam) are good. Many times I pointed out that that was a ridiculous argument stating that Government or Army can't operate in vacuum. Government and Army reflect the attitude and mindset of common people. I used to give the example of the infamous Mian Mithu of Pakistan to such 'Aaman ki Asha' people.
In case of Turkey, I also tell the respected members not to fall in the trap of such fallacious argument. Government and people of Turkey can't be differentiated. After all, Erdogun has been elected by Turkish people and his popularity is increasing.
The people of Turkey is equally responsible for its Government's anti-India stance.

The attitude of the citizens of a particular country is developed based on certain factors like their religious rigidity, their upbringing, teachings of their religious leaders, and general attitude of their political leaders for outside world and outside communities. All these factors make the citizens biased and blind in one or other ways. That is happening in many countries today and they are adamant in their attitude even after getting help and humanistic behaviour from outside.
It will be a very big discussion whether India did a correct thing by giving help to Turkey and Syria or not but the essence of all this is that the good person cannot stop its kind hearted gesture and humanistic approach because other person is bad. So sometimes the good deeds done by a person or a country all go in the waste paper basket but it is all in the game of international politics and diplomacy. Some of us (including me) feel bad on that decision of helping Turky and Syria but it is already too late to ponder on that.

I agree with you Partha Sir. In my post, I never said that there the people are good. But the only thing is sympathy towards people who are in trouble. That is what exactly I said. When somebody is in a problem we will try to help them and see that they will be out of trouble but we will never see who is that person and what type of person he/ she is.
Turkey people may not deserve our help. But it is the nature of our country to help the people who are in trouble and just did that. When the time comes our country may teach them a lesson also.
