Why the students doing same amount of efforts score differently?

There are a large number of students preparing for their examinations in our country. Some of them are very studious, some are mediocre, while some others have no interest in studies but attending it just as a matter of formality. The first category of students is that category in which generally students are very hard working and are focused for the results. They want to score more and more in their examinations whether it is the normal school or college examination or any competitive examination that they plan to attempt after completing their basic eligibility condition.
Though these students try to do their best and attempt whole heartedly in the examinations but their scores are different. Some score very good marks while others fail to do so. There is no direct relation between the amount of hard work done and scores obtained. However in some cases it apparently looks like that score is proportionate to the efforts.
What are the factors that affect the scoring of students in spite of doing same amount of hard work? Some say that it is a matter of chance and good luck. Do you believe so? Please share your views on this.

To ensure that we are doing best in our ensuing examinations, the following are the essential points to be observed-
    1) Let us not wait for the last week of the start of the examination. A regular care for the best would be required preferably six months prior to examination.
    2) The text book should be read thoroughly so that we have full grasp of the texts.
    3) Shortcut method bypassing text books is not desirable.
    4) Take care of all subjects in equal proportions.
    5) Keep copies for the different subjects noting down important points of each subjects.
    6) For the competitive tests, appear for the mock tests to assess your progress.
    7) In each week, revision of a particular subject is to be taken up.

Many students will be there who do their best to score the maximum marks possible and a good rank. But all will not be successful in the same way. No doubt, hard work is very important to score better, but there will be many other factors also. IQ levels of people will be different. A person with a higher IQ may do better than a person with a lower IQ, even though both of them put up the same amount of hard work. Another aspect of the condition of the mind on that particular day. Sometimes we will feel dull and we may not be able to do well. Another factor is health conditions on that day.
In addition to all the above factors, luck plays an important role. Some people will be lucky. People say luck plays a very important role in our life. I wrote all my B.Sc papers very well. But on the day of the Physics examination, I suffered from a high fever and could not attend the examination. Then I have to cancel my result and attend all the examinations again in the next chance and obtained first class.

Except for the multiple choice objective type questions, there is always a chance for different students getting different scores for answering the same question. This is because the answers even though relevant to the question, may be presented differently by different students. Hence it depends on the degree of accuracy aptness and correctness at that question context and the level expected from the student of that class level. The more descriptive the answer the more variation will be there in the scores of different students.

Then there are other relative factors which also play in this regard. They are the the evaluator and his attitude and the then mood and expectation, the environment and situation during valuation, the common guidelines given with regard to awarding scores etc.

While efforts are needed, it is the result that is considered for evaluation. Just as cooking and taste matters, nice presentation also enhances appeal and general feel which makes eating more pleasing.

There are a number of factors that can contribute to why students who put in the same amount of effort may score differently. Here are a few possibilities:
Natural ability: Some students may have a natural aptitude for certain subjects or skills. For example, a student who has a natural talent for math may find it easier to understand complex concepts and perform well on exams, even if they put in the same amount of effort as a student who struggles with math.
Learning style: Different students have different learning styles. If a student's learning style is not well-matched to the teaching style or materials used in a class, they may struggle to perform as well as their peers who are better suited to the course.
Study habits: While two students may both claim to be putting in the same amount of effort, their study habits may differ. For example, one student may spend more time reviewing and practicing problems, while another may spend more time reading and taking notes. If one student's study habits are more effective than the other's, they may perform better on exams.
External factors: Students may face external factors that can impact their performance, such as stress, anxiety, or personal issues. Even if two students are putting in the same amount of effort, one may be better equipped to manage these external factors and perform well on exams.
Overall, while effort is an important factor in academic success, it is not the only factor. Natural ability, learning style, study habits, and external factors can all play a role in determining why students who put in the same amount of effort may score differently

Service to mankind is service to God.
