Why is there so much corruption in our country?

There can be various reasons for the prevalence of corruption in a country. Here are some of the common factors that contribute to corruption:

Corruption thrives in countries where governance is weak, and there is a lack of transparency and accountability in public institutions. When institutions are weak, corrupt officials can easily exploit their positions of power for personal gain.

Economic factors: In countries with high levels of poverty and income inequality, corruption can be more widespread. People who are desperate for money may resort to paying bribes or engaging in other corrupt practices to survive or get ahead.

Even if laws and regulations exist to prevent corruption, they are often not enforced properly, leaving corrupt officials free to act with impunity.

Political instability: Countries that are experiencing political instability or conflict may be more vulnerable to corruption, as government officials may be more focused on consolidating power than on fighting corruption.
I have mentioned some points. You may mention other points of corruption in our country.

Corruption is a big problem and also a big challenge for any country where it is thriving. There are many reasons for people resorting to corruption but the main factors which are also mentioned by the author in the above post are the adverse economic condition of the country and lack of governance. These two factors multiply with each other and become a big bottle neck for removing the corruption from the system.
If we go into the genesis of corruption then it will be very clear that human beings being greedy will always resort to corrupt practices if the opportunity exists. People in high positions or having power in their hands can always do corruption if they wish to do so in spite of having law for not doing that.
Corruption becomes a big problem when it is done by a group of people and in that situation everyone in the group tries to save everyone else and that is the reason why they are never caught. It is very difficult to eradicate this type of corruption in which there is a chain of officials and money is collected at the bottom and then it is distributed to everyone upto top depending on ones position and involvement in that particular business or business deal. It is not that corruption is only inside a country in fact there are many cases of international business deals where people from one country had taken big bribes from people of other country just for pushing their products in that country. In such cases problem of corruption becomes much severe and complicated.
Experts believe that corruption can be minimised by economic development and good governance though it cannot be eradicated fully. In some advanced countries it is claimed that corruption is at the minimum tolerable threshold.

    Knowledge is power.

It is really an interesting post raised by the author relating to the corruption prevailing in any country. If we analyse the reason for such a bad practice, it is definitely indication of poor governance having loopholes where the offenders can manage their unfair practices. They even have the protection of the governing authorities for their protection. They would resort to the easiest roots to flourish their activities with the connections of the higher officials. The underneath cause for such corruptions are the greediness of the people knowing no boundaries to limit their earnings. To minimise this, we should have a large pool of honest and effective officials to check such activities of the corrupt peoples.
At present, it seems difficult but not difficult if the ruling party is really interested to initiate good governance. They need a strong will power to contain this corruption.

I agree with the author that there is a lot of corruption in our country. In my opinion, we are responsible for corruption. We want to do our work at the earliest in any office. We want to give some money for that purpose. Similarly, we want a reserved seat on the train at any cost and we are ready to provide some bribe for getting a reserved seat.

So, we cannot blame any other for the corruption. We are solely responsible for corruption in the country. One more thing I want to add is that strict rules also promote corruption.

    Honesty is the best policy.

It is true that corruption is very high in our country and we all became immune to this corruption. Corruption is a two-way process. If there is somebody to offer a bribe only anyone can show his readiness to accept the same. We, the people want some special favours to be done for us. We expect the officials to go out of their way to help us. When we want the support of officials, they expect something in return from us.
If the public allows officials to work normally without asking for any favours for us, they may not get tempted by bribes. Once officers taste additional money through bribes they will start searching for various ways and means to get that.
I agree with the author that when governance is weak, corruption will increase. If the corrupt officers are punished seriously and instantaneously, other officers will try to be more careful. But there is no proper punishment mechanism is in place in our country. The corrupt officer will go to court and there the facts are not able to get established because of the intelligence of the lawyers and the officers are getting back normally without any punishment.

There are agencies like CBI and ED to investigate and find corrupt people and take action against them through court. But when they arrest a leader from a party, the party people will support them without knowing the facts. They start blaming other parties, especially the party in power. When there is no problem with you, why do you criticise others and why can't we prove your innocence? There are courts to come to your rescue.
But people say that CBI and its officials are also corrupt. Finally, we all will fail to understand who is correct and what are the facts. Such is the condition today in the country.
