    Time management V/s self management

Generally, we all know about time management. We all do time management to some extent to do our work smoothly and in a timely manner. But I was reading a book and came to know that self-management is more important than time management. If we manage ourselves, the time would be managed automatically.

I want to know the opinions of the members and what they think. Which is more important time management or self-management?

Members are requested to provide their opinion in this thread.

Definitely, self-management is very important. Self-management is nothing but our own capability to manage our behaviours, thoughts, and emotions in a conscious and productive way in different circumstances and situations. In my opinion time management is also a part of self-management. Managing your time as well as other parameters will be a part of self-management only.
A person who is Self-managed will understand his/her personal responsibility in different aspects of his/her life, and do what is needed to fulfil that responsibility. When we have to discharge our responsibilities properly we should adhere to the time schedule also.
Time management may not teach you the ways and means of controlling your emotions in different situations. A person who is good at self-management will be able to plan his time also well as per the requirement.

Both time management and self-management are important for personal and professional success, and they complement each other. Good time management can help you complete your work on time, but self-management can help you lead a more fulfilling and satisfying life. So, it's essential to develop both skills to be successful and achieve your goals.

While time management more professional and is applicable to all in the system, self management is personal and that includes time management of self. So both are exclusive to each other important on its own situation.

I also feel that self management and time management go hand in hand together. They are definitely the complementary pair as mentioned by Roshan in his response above.
Self management is the development of one's personality in such a way that he is able to make a career of choice and meet the objectives as set in one's life. Sometimes a person has to fight with oneself and those are the situations when self management is required. Self management teaches us as how to remove negative thoughts from our minds and how to overcome the resistance and laziness for attempting or doing the work.
On the other hand time management is the scheduling of our activities in our lives and deciding which action is to be taken up first. It also helps us in allocating time to the various activities as per their importance and complexity.

Self management is a kind of discipline controlling our emotions and thoughts so as to achieve our targets as set earlier. Here we learn more about restrictions of emotions in such ways that we can produce unique nature of our jobs justifying the needs. This even teaches us the ways how best we can shed our negative emotions from our mindset recharging positivity and eliminating our negative emotions.
Time management can be achieved with the application of self management and broadly speaking they are complimentary to each other. It gives us insight which one should be taken up first depending upon the priorities of the situation and what should be the next in terms of priorities. Time allocation of each job would depend upon the nature of the job and we must adhere to the time schedule so that no job in the list escapes. Before taking up such executions a proper home exercise is necessary where there there will total evaluation of each job in details and completion of time of each work is in consonance with our chalked out schedules.

It is important to have both good time management and self-management skills. Good time management allows us to maximize the use of our time, while good self-management allows us to stay focused, motivated, and productive throughout the day. By combining these two skills, we can achieve greater success in both our personal and professional life.

Proper self management especially in time management is very much important. Nowadays many of us having false assumptions and calculations by our own and doing wrong time management. We, though, are good in time management, are not giving margins or escalations for other factors so that we fail in our time management. A friend of mine used to calculate the travelling time before proceeding and go to that place accordingly only. He never go earlier or give time for other aspects in the middle. One time he proceeded to Railway Station according to his calculations and due to traffic diversion, a sincere late was occurred, he missed his train and his total program got stunned. He got a good bulb for his absence.

Time management is the process of planning and controlling how much time is spent on various activities. While Self-management is the ability to regulate and control our behavior, emotions, and thoughts

I think, time management is a subset of self-management, without both skills we can not achieve success in career. An effective time management helps individuals accomplish their goals and meet their deadlines, while self-management helps individuals achieve their full potential by developing self-awareness, self-discipline, and other important skills.

The author has given a wonderful thread, definitely, for us, the importance of both time management and self-management is almost equal and success comes automatically in the life of the person who masters it. If life is seen then there is only one time and if we cannot manage time then we will not be able to manage our life. If a person understands to do certain things at the right time in a certain way, then the rush of life can be reduced. Managing ourselves is also like that, when we decide our day-to-day tasks on the basis of priority, systematic management in life comes on its own.
