Caring for school children in a different way

Present-day children are lack in 'healthy foods' as they got addicted with junk foods like pizza, burgers and other chat items. It is not correct to prevent them from such items totally but such food items can be taken casually.
To avoid this junk food habit, if parents insist the children it may turn otherwise. In earlier days when we were children our elders used of offer snacks and coffee/milk immediately after removing uniform dress on returning from school/college. They did without asking our permission or interest, but they made us to expect such things from them. it is one way we prevent children to move out for junk foods as the similar junk foods and hotels were then also in prevalence.

In Nagpur, I saw my relative girl offer her son who returns from school to eat poha mixed with vegetable.

It is good for parents or house persons to offer sundals made of grains, poha mixed with jaggary and banana or poha with vegetables or poha with jaggary and coconut scrub. This if they offer without asking them it become a practice to them and lead them to a healthy food practice.

We house persons should make them to have such items instead of offering whatever they need from hotels or street vendors often.

Making snacks in the house and giving them to the children after returning from school is a good way to prevent children from eating outside food. My mother and grandmother used to make some snacks in the house and keep them. After coming back from school in the evening they used to give us those snacks and we got accustomed to eating homemade snacks only. The oil we use is fresh and it will not be boiled repeatedly. So the food made in the house will be always better and one should prefer it.
But these days young couples are not having time for making them in the house as both of them will be working. So they bring from outside. They may give money to their children to eat outside. That is making these guys get habituated to eating outside junk food.

Yes, I agree with the author that we can prepare and make a habit in children to eat healthy food instead of junk food in the market. Nowadays, there are many hotels and restaurants which offer these types of junk food. But there are many hotels which also provide healthy food. So, we can't prevent the children to go outside. They generally want to go to hotels with friends. So, it is better to make a habit in them to eat healthy food items instead of junk food. If they are outside in a hotel or restaurant they would always prefer healthy food items instead of junk food.

So, try to develop a habit in them to eat healthy food items daily..

    Honesty is the best policy.

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of developing healthy habits among children to protect their physical and mental health. After the pandemic, parents and teachers should continue to prioritize the development of healthy habits among children to promote their overall well-being.
Here are some healthy habits that parents and teachers can encourage children to develop:
Regular hand washing: Washing hands regularly with soap and water is one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of germs and diseases. Parents and teachers can teach children how to wash their hands properly and remind them to do so frequently throughout the day.
Healthy eating habits: A balanced and nutritious diet is essential for children's growth and development. Parents and teachers can encourage children to eat a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats.
Regular exercise: Physical activity is important for children's physical and mental health. Parents and teachers can encourage children to engage in regular exercise, such as playing outside, riding a bike, or participating in organized sports.
Getting enough sleep: Adequate sleep is crucial for children's overall health and well-being. Parents and teachers can establish a consistent bedtime routine and encourage children to get enough sleep each night.
Managing stress: The pandemic has been a stressful time for many children, and it's important to teach them how to manage stress in a healthy way. Parents and teachers can encourage children to engage in stress-relieving activities such as reading, listening to music, or practicing deep breathing exercise.

Service to mankind is service to God.

I completely agree with author's view. Nowadays, most of the children want to eat junk foods because that food are more tasty. In developing this kind of habit parents play an important role because of working parents Generally, working parents have no time for children. In such a situation they mostly either order online outside food or go to a restaurant. Thus children get accustomed to out side food and started to avoid home made food. In some families, children are growing on outside food and becoming fatty. Some of my relatives are doing this as both husband and wife are working.

We need to take maximum precautions of our children so that they are not indulged with the street foods.Once they develop of the different items served outside home, there are possibilities that they might switch over such foods due its tastes and aromas. They need to be educated the nutrition values of home made snacks and foods such as Poha, Idli, Dosas apart from plane rices, cooked pulses and vegetables which would keep them healthy and would get sufficient nutrients apart from same being hygienic which they would lack in street foods.
Moreover, they should be encouraged to take abundant fruits in the morning hours to get essential nutrients for compensating essential minerals and antioxidants containing in such fruits.
The next important component is to make their aware of importance of regular exercises such as jogging, brisk walking, stretching exercises to keep their bodies fit with their enhanced immunity.
The parents should ensure that they take enough sleep for at least eight hours and they must know how best they can tackle their stress with the provision of right training at homes.

If parents are alert and provide the children home made snacks from time to time then children will not feel hungry and may not ask outside items. If parents feel lazy in preparing snacks in the house then it in natural that some other alternative arrangement is to be made and in most of the cases what we get from outside is junk food only.
There are too many lucrative and attractive junk food items today and it is not possible to check the children for not taking them and once in a week they can be allowed for that indulgence.

    Knowledge is power.

Very good post. It is important for parents and house persons to offer healthy food options to children and make it a practice, rather than relying solely on junk food. This can help promote healthy eating habits and reduce the risk of negative health outcomes associated with excessive junk food consumption.
