Let's pay respect to our freedom fighters: Suggestion for a contest
There are lakhs and lakhs of freedom-fighter in India who fought for the independence ('swaraj') of the country. A few of them are very famous, some freedom fighters are known within a group/geographical area and most are almost unknown. Fortunately, there are some records depicting the struggle of those lesser-known freedom fighters in some obscure corners of some documents.India is now celebrating the 'Amritkal', i.e., 75 years after independence. In this 'Amritkal', I humbly submit a proposal to the ISC management to arrange a contest on the freedom fighters. The structure of the proposed contest is simple and similar to the contest organized by the ISC management last month.
The participants will write a short write-up in not more than 200 words on the exploits of a freedom fighter. The write-up may be on the entire life of the freedom fighter or about a spectacular incident about him/her. The write-up must give sufficient clues so that others members would try to identify him/her. Finally, other participants will send their guesses (about the particular freedom fighter) to the e-mail account of the ISC editor who would organize the contest.
I hope this proposal will be considered by the ISC management.
