Why do Indian voters vote for corrupt politicians?

We hear many scams and misappropriation of money by various authorities and political leaders. But such people will never fear facing the people as they know that Indian voters never consider corruption as a negative point for a politician.

It is true that Indian voters never hesitate to vote for a corrupt politician. This is mainly because the majority of the voters themselves are corrupt. They never care for traffic rules. They never think it is their duty to maintain cleanliness in public places. They never hesitate to bribe the officials to get benefitted personally. They never bother about the innocent people who are suffering between these selfish voters and corrupt leaders.

If the officials are strict and go by rules, these selfish people can't make merry and can't get things done as required. Hence they never consider corruption as a negative point and vote for corrupt leaders. Do you agree?

What the author says in context of Indian voters regarding their neutrality of the involvement in the scams is correct. The voters are aware how the politicians are amassing wealth through the unfair means but despite knowing their images, they don't mind to vote such corrupt politicians. The voters think that there is no substitute of the said politician in their local areas doing the jobs so nicely. This element of faith is the main cause of casting votes for their favours.
In fact, with the progress of time, we could see how the sentiments of both the voters and leaders have changed drastically and such a situation was not prevalent in Indian System in the regimes between 1965 and 1970. There were honest leaders in those days and they served the public with their total dedication without resorting to unfair practices.

The outcome of ED and CBI raids is being seen by all of us and crores of rupees are being unearthed. Everyone in our country today aware of that and knows that there is wide spread corruption and some people in high positions are amassing wealth.
Most of the voters are aware of this. They will vote for one of the candidates whom they like irrespective of whether he is honest or not.
This is the irony in our system that we do not have much choice and voters are biased in their minds for their candidates only.

Yes, I agree with the author that Indian voters do not hesitate to vote the corrupt politicians. But how can we find out who is corrupt and who is not corrupt? Sometimes we can believe whether it is really corrupt or it is an act of political revenge. Sometimes people do not have the choice to vote. Most Indians do not vote for the person, rather they vote for the party. So, it is the responsibility of the party to select a good person to provide the ticket to a non-corrupted person.

But it is very difficult to select a good person in politics. For elections, they have to arrange the money they provide different things to voters and after winning the election they have to recover all this money by means of corruption.

    Honesty is the best policy.

The right to vote which we have got from our constitution is a valuable right and we are fortunate that we can choose our own leader. But the present situation is turning this good fortune into misfortune because now the person is thinking about whether he should use his right or not. When we elect a leader, we hope that he may bring changes, but don't know why there has been so much corruption in the whole system that probably no one has remained untouched by it. We want to elect a person who will work in the interest of us and the country, but no one wants to take any step honestly in this direction and perhaps this is our misfortune.

Generalizing a whole population's voting behaviour is not fair. Some voters may vote for corrupt politicians due to various reasons.Such as Lack of Awareness,Cast and Religious Consideration,Lack of Alternative options and some take money to vote. But it is essential to know all Indians voters not vote for corrupt politicians.Voters of these days are aware of the corrupt practices of politicians and they use their voting rights responsibly by voting an honest person.

It is not accurate to assume that all Indian voters vote for corrupt politicians. It is worth noting that not all voters who vote for corrupt politicians do so willingly. In some cases, voters may be coerced or intimidated into voting for a particular candidate. This could be due to the influence of powerful individuals or groups who are backing the corrupt candidate.

Additionally, voters may vote for corrupt politicians out of a sense of loyalty or obligation. This loyalty could be based on caste or religion, or it could be because the corrupt politician has provided some benefits or favors to the voter or their community in the past.

Overall, the reasons why some Indian voters choose to vote for corrupt politicians are complex and varied, and it is not accurate to generalize the behavior of all Indian voters.

It naturally comes to our minds in this situation that what a voter will do if the majority of the politicians are corrupt. What we are witnessing today in the official raids might be the tip of the iceberg only.
What we require today is more number of honest and sincere politicians who can run the country in the best of ways for development and progress.
The real development will take place only when some of these corrupt politicians do not amass wealth for themselves but do work for the betterment of society and poor people.
