Career consciousness and weakening of family ties

Since their student lives the students are made to understand that they have to make a career in the future. Parents, society, and teachers everyone want to succeed in life and make a good career. These things put great pressure on the students and they try their best to score good marks and attend competitive examinations and finally secure a good job. Young people today even go to remote places and difficult locations to make a career and then their ties with their families weaken and in the pursuit of a career they forget many other important matters related to their families. Some of these people get a job abroad and generally settle down there and finally take their families also there.

Some of these ambitious people have to live alone and meet their wives and children after a significant gap. All these things take a toll on their family and social lives and to some extent, they suffer on that account. The world today is so tough and competitive that they don't have any other option in their hands.

What are your observations on this situation prevailing around?

Appreciating your thread. The pressure to make a successful career is a common experience for many young people today. This pressure can come from a variety of sources, including parents, peers, and society as a whole. While having a career is an essential aspect of modern life, it is important to balance this with other important matters, such as family and social relationships.

The pursuit of a career can take individuals to remote and challenging locations, leading to a physical and emotional distance from their families. This separation can cause stress and strain on relationships and lead to difficulties in maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Moreover, those who seek job opportunities abroad might have to face additional challenges like language barriers, cultural differences, and a sense of isolation.

Despite these challenges, it is also important to recognize that pursuing a career can bring many benefits to individuals and their families. For example, it can provide financial stability, opportunities for personal growth and development, and a sense of fulfilment and accomplishment.

Therefore, it is crucial to strike a balance between career aspirations and other important aspects of life. One way to achieve this balance is by prioritizing family and social relationships and finding ways to stay connected despite physical distance. Additionally, taking breaks from work, practicing self-care, and setting realistic expectations can help individuals manage stress and maintain a healthy work-life balance.

In those days many families are in joint families and if any one or two among them went to foreign countries or other places for employment, their wards were taken care of by other family members and on returning everybody enjoyed unity and the level of joy would be more. But nowadays the isolated family system makes the wards of such persons pathetic except for some of them. The families of such persons living here also develop in themselves a mentality that they are rich than others which makes them more aloof.

When a child goes on the road with his father by holding the hand of his father, he will not have any worry about traffic or pit on the road but once the grip is lost, the entire responsibility falls on the child. Similarly, it is good for such career-conscious persons to keep their wards in a safe family group so that they themselves too can do their service without any worry or fear.

An excellent thread is raised by Umesh sir. We have observed that this situation arises and who is responsible for it. The students after taking education go abroad and settle there. Their parents live alone and have no one there to care for them.
In my opinion, this situation arises due to our education system. We have focused on technical knowledge, skill development, computer, IT, etc but the most important thing is missing in the syllabus. We have no period for moral education from nursery to twelfth standards. Who will provide moral education to the students?

We should reconsider our education system and should focus on moral education to avoid such types of situations.

    Honesty is the best policy.

Yes, you are right. These days, parents, teachers, and students themselves are very conscious about their careers. This is because the population of our country makes it difficult to obtain jobs, and even when jobs are obtained, they are often not favorable, requiring long hours or paying very little. Many people are forced to work night shifts or live far away from their families, which makes survival a challenge. As a result, people work too much and do not have time for their loved ones, which is a shame. Consequently, love and sacrifice are not always seen in families, and children often have no time for their parents. The prevailing situation is very concerning.

What the author has highlighted in this thread is the reflection of the present trend with which the young generations are facing in view of making careers meaningful. Their efforts and the encouragement of their relatives definitely help the aspirants to secure jobs of their choice but at the cost of loosing the bond of love and affection of their own members. May be their dream jobs have provided them some stimulation in the initial phase but the family- separation issues remain in tact and they feel a void in the relationship. Very deplorable situation of course but there are no ways.

Here the important point is making money. Everybody wants to make more and more money. A husband working and earning 6 figure salary per month is also not happy and wants his wife also to work and earn at least half of his salary. In this pursuit, there are instances where the wife and the husband will meet at the night only or even sometimes once is week or so. Their children will be looked after by some servant maids. All this is making people forget about the concept of family.
In the olden days in the house, all the family members used to sit and eat together at least once a day, especially in the evenings. They used to discuss the issues over their dinner. But the members of a family will never meet even once a day.
