Capture the knowledge in a book

Remember your school life. When we did not do any homework our teacher told us to write 3 times or 5 times. After writing many times we learned those things. It shows the power of writing.

It is important for us to note down the new knowledge we found anywhere. When we read a book or listen to an audiobook it is necessary to note down the important points. After someday when we revise these points we again feel like we have read the book again. So, if we want to remember new knowledge for a lifetime it is important to note down it.

I always make notes when I read a book, attend training, or get some new things from anywhere. Do you also note down the things which are new for you? Please share your opinion in this thread.

Earlier, I had this habit of jotting down salient points in a precise and summarised form in my notebook so that I could use them either in my writings or in my presentations later. Unfortunately, with the passage of time I discontinued doing that at some stage in my life.
However, occasionally if I find something very important and useful I try to note down it in a bulleted form to be used at a later time. But many times I don't remember to use it and ponder the whole thing in my mind to create that productive writing again.
I agree that it is a very good habit to note down things in a precise form.

    Knowledge is power.

In this busy world, we often find ourselves lacking the time to take notes. However, if we make an effort to concentrate on the information we are taking in, we can commit it to memory. Concentration helps us absorb and retain the material we read. While reading is a good habit, it is important to be actively engaged with the content in order to truly benefit from it.
Reading is an effective way to stay informed about the latest trends, developments, and best practices in various industries.
Moreover, reading can also enhance communication skills, vocabulary, and creativity, which are essential for effective leadership. Leaders who read widely and regularly are better equipped to make informed decisions, inspire others, and articulate their vision effectively.

Service to mankind is service to God.

That is very correct. My parents used to tell me that writing once is equal to reading ten times. That is why our teachers used to ask us to write answers to the questions given. Because of this, I got habituated to writing.
When we read a book, there will be some important points that we learn from that. We will remember them for some time. But if we note down and refer once in a while we will not forget them easily.
Even when the teaching is going on while hearing if we start noting down important points, that will make us understand the subject well and we can remember the same for a long time. Some people use a pen and underline the important points. But that practice may not help us to remember that points. But when we refer again to that book we can identify the important points.
Regular writing will be helpful for improving our handwriting also. So inculcate the habit of writing and noting down the important points while reading.
