Music unites but politics divides us

How true it is when we say music has no language. Recently the "Natu-Natu" song not only make us dance to its tune but make us feel proud too when it won the Oscar. Some months back another South Indian song " Sami" became a hit in entire India. A few years back one more South Indian song "Kolavari di" broke all barriers and reached north India's rural villages where people do not know even a single word of the South Indian language.

In the same way, some Bollywood songs become hits with South Indian people. The 70s and 80s Kishore Kumar songs are still in the memory of people from South India. I have even experienced physically watching school kids in Chennai dancing to Daler Mehndi Punjabi songs long back.

Here it is all our emotions and happiness that we accept from our heart which comes out in the form of music no matter what language it comes from.

But when it comes to politics, we become divided. The same language which brings music to our ear become unbearable to accept in our life. Politicians take advantage of it and we fall into their trap. This is a sad truth and we do not know when we will come out of it.

That is true. Music is music for all. South Indian people enjoy Hindi songs well and they watch Hindi movies. Similarly, South Indian movies are doing well in other parts of the country. Natu- Natu song has become universal and all Indian feel happy as this song bagged an Oscar award. Music will unite all of us. We never look for the language in which the lyrics are there but we enjoy the music.
Politics is entirely the opposite of that. KCR the Telangana CM used to scold Andhra People like anything before the State is divided. To get the sympathy of Telangana voters, he started scolding the Andhra people. His party won and he became the Chief Minister. Now the same KCR is talking about BRS and asking Andhra People to vote for his party. That is the attitude of these politicians.
But as long as people are aware of the nature of the politicians I feel nobody can divide them.

    Music unites, politics divide us.
Music has the ability to bring people together and create a sense of unity, regardless of cultural, social, or political differences. This is because music has a universal language that transcends boundaries and connects people on a deeper level. It can serve as a powerful tool for promoting social change and raising awareness about political issues.
On the other hand, politics can sometimes create divisions and polarization among people with different beliefs and values. This can lead to conflicts and even violence in extreme cases. However, politics can also be a means for people to come together and work towards common goals, such as promoting equality, justice, and human rights.
Therefore, it is important to recognize that music and politics can both have positive and negative effects on society. It is up to individuals and communities to use these tools in constructive ways that promote unity, understanding, and progress.

Service to mankind is service to God.

#77218603, Indu Singh, can you please elaborate, how music can have negative affect?

Politics divide us because politicians play divisive games. They always talk about unity but during elections, you will find them selecting candidates based on the caste and creed of a specific place. Politicians indulge in politics of appeasement where they favour a specific community to win their hearts. If they can divide a section of people in terms of caste, creed or religion it will help them to gain the attention of the specific group through reservation and other appeasing tactics by which they can be assured of a solid vote bank. The crazy politicians remain busy winning elections without caring much about the overall development. If staying in power is the motto they can go to any level to win elections and that's why many of their words are quite annoying.

On the other hand, music conveys a message directly to the mind irrespective of age, race, colour or region of people. The message of the music binds all and that's why it unites.

It is true that music has the power to transcend language barriers and connect people across cultures and borders. The success of songs like "Natu-Natu," "Sami," and "Kolavari di" in reaching audiences beyond their language and cultural boundaries is a testament to the universal appeal of music.

However, it is unfortunate that in politics, language becomes a dividing force. Politicians often exploit linguistic differences to create divisions and gain power, leading to conflict and strife. It is important for individuals to recognize the power of music in bringing people together and to resist the divisive rhetoric of politicians.

Let us embrace the universal language of music and use it to bridge differences and foster understanding, rather than allowing language to be a tool of division in our society.

A song has two parts one is the lyrics and other is the music or melody in which the lyrics are sung by the singer. When a person knows the language then he enjoys both lyrics as well as music. Those who do not know that language can also enjoy the music because music is the main thing that captivate us to hear it again and again. It is very true that music bonds the people together.
    Knowledge is power.

Music has definitely soothing effects on us and the same sentiments runs with most of us regardless of the fact that we have different ideologies and perceptions in our lives. Music rather connects all providing peace and tranquility in our minds. However I must say that old songs especially the Hindi Ones in the era prior to 1960 were really marvellous and would take away the pain for the time being. Some songs like Anarkali, Guide, Mamta, Dia aur Toofa, Teesri Kasam etc have their own melodious values and are unforgettable.
It hardly matters that our cultures are not matching with neighbours and even if the song of any language is being aired, we would guess the emotions behind the song and in that process languages never proved any hindrance in understanding the themes covered in that song.
Unfortunately politics never allows to races to come together due to decisive approaches adopted by the politicians. They might talk of unity always in their speech but they can go to any length to create an element of hat-redness among the different races for their own benefits.
