    Why should I learn English?

In our country there so many major regional languages like Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Bangla, Hindi, Urdu, Gujarati, Oriya, Marathi, Assamese, Punjabi, Manipuri, Malayalam etc and a large number of people speak them. There are many Indians who know more than one language out of above categories and speak and write them fluently. Due to the Bollywood effect or whatever reason Hindi has emerged as one of the leading languages and many people use it and go to other states in our country.
Interestingly, English has also emerged as a major language in India not because it is our mother tongue but because it is used in the business environment, offices, institutes, research work, science and technology, and international matters and students have to learn it if they want to make a successful career.
So, if someone asks a question as why English is to be learnt then answer is obvious. What do you think about this matter? Please share your views.

If we think deeply why English is so important at least in India where there are several languages to be used for communication. The answer is obvious that it connects with the people speaking other languages but at the same time, he is command in English as well. There could be fluent interactions of such people provided both the parties have their familiarity with English.,
The other advantages associated with this language is that the technical books in the areas of Medical, Engineering,Science and Technology we would find a lot of standard books which could prove indispensable in relation to further studies and references. If we want to acquire detailed informations in such areas, there is no substitute for English.

In any other countries there are only one language is in vogue to speak or communicate. But as far as our country concerned we are having different states with different languages. We, Indians also in a position to move from one to another state on any situations either personally or officially. In this juncture it is not possible to expect every one to have a knowledge of more than one language and one cannot be expected to have knowledge of all languages of our country.
Though we know something in their language we cannot recollect at the moment of we need. One time when I was in Hyderabad, though I know spoken Telugu, went to vegetable market for buying some vegetables. By seeing the ginger in the shop, I intended to buy a small quantity but I could not recollect the name of ginger in Telugu at that moment. I just by gesture directed to put some quantity by showing with my fingers. He realized the trouble in me and told that,' Sir 'allam' in Telugu for this.'

In this situation it is better to have one common language to communicate and is offered by British who ruled us before. At the same time the English also not useful in the common level.
Though we can argue this as they made us to learn English for their convenience, presently it is useful to our Indians very well.
