Admission to primary school must be easy and faster.

Admission to primary school is a long process for many parents. It is essential to ensure that the admission process is quick, faster, and confirm well in time. All the fulfilment should be done under government guidelines but must be easy and simple for parents as well as for institutions.

Firstly, parents should be well informed and they must be aware of every step of admissions. This information should be available for all to access, to follow, and to understand.

Secondly, the admission process should be streamlined and efficient. This can be achieved by digitalization and is easy to finish.

Lastly, the admission process should be equal for all kids. No partial attempt. No hidden fee, no preference, and no differentiation at all.

In my experience, I have seen that some schools have implemented a system of random selection, where admission is granted through a lottery system. This helps to eliminate any biases or favouritism in the process of admissions in primary as well as secondary schools. I would say in all such admissions.

In conclusion, admission to primary school should be easy and fast. All children have an equal opportunity for learning.

There are some schools where admission is very easy. Even today in many villages if you go to a government school. admitting the kid to 1st standard is very easy and no admission test or no interview with the parents of the student. A birth certificate is required to confirm the date.
But in many standard private schools, the admission process is very long and the fees are also very huge. Recently. my son admitted his second daughter to play school in Bangalore. The school is one of the best schools available in that area. So they called the child first with her parents. They interviewed both parents. Then they gave my son a big application form. Then they asked some questions to the kid and finally asked my son to pay the fees. This total process took almost 15 days and the fees were also very high.
I feel the process depends on the school and the standard it maintains. In Hyderabad, some schools are giving preference to candidates whose both parents are minimum graduates.

Arvind, do you mean to say that admission to primary classes are not easy? Some particular schools might be having some regulations while admitting kids to their school but I don't think it is such a difficult task to admit your child to a primary class. Join your kid to any playschool or nursery but be aware about the basic facilities in the schools and keep a tag. You would feel the hazard only when you are bothered about opinions and views.

In some public schools, there is the process of interviews with the parents to see how far they can help their kids in their studies and to that extent, it is alright. But in such parental interviews, parents would come to know about the hidden costs to be paid by way of admission charges. They might not be aware of such hidden costs prior to the admission procedure.
Then again, the introduction of lottery process for the finalisation of the admission of kids might deprive them of their actual merits they might have secured in such tests. There should not be any hidden costs rather the school authorities should maintain transparency in the whole system.

My humble view in this topic is admitting a children in Primary school is not so important but the effect out from the primary school level is much important as such schools are distorting the children mind from learning basic things. According to me the prime expectation from primary schools are making the students well / strong in skills like reading, pronouncing, writing of a language basically the vernacular and other two languages rather than diverting them in to other crafts or activities as many parents expecting that their children should shine bright in all abacus, swimming, guitar, Keyboard etc., in their tiny ages. As per their expectations, ,many or some children come so bright but lack in counting the coins or reading basic mother tongue language but the parents taking this as a pride that 'my son/daughter is not familiar with Tamil/Telugu/Kannada (mother tongue) rather than English'.

It's a point that many parents whose children are to be admitted to school have. There are many reputed schools that have a very lengthy admission process for admission to Pre-Primary classes. They would have interviews with children and then with parents. Some may even have criteria wherein they ask both parents to be present for admission.

Some schools have a lottery system, some have a merit system and some are purely donation-based processes. The admission process for small kids should be implemented by the state government so that all schools follow it and are more common to all than having to go through a long admission process.

The admission process in primary schools had indeed become lengthier and more time-consuming as compared to earlier times. In my view, the main reason for this is that in earlier times teachers were not collecting much data about the students and there were limited parameters that were to be seen at the time of admission, and record-keeping was simple and straightforward. Today we are living in a computer era where every detail and every piece of data is registered in the database to avoid any problem at a later stage and due to that there are lengthy procedures and formalities to be carried out by the school authorities. Today School authorities have to cross check the personal data of a student with an Aadhar Card and other credentials and should see that there should not be any mistake in any data at any point of time because that will create a problem later when the student goes for higher education.
