Why pulling old thread is not recommended

Some of our old thread are tempting to reply. But seems we members should not reply to those. Could someone give few reasons as those topics are really good to go for disucssion. Another option is to rephrase those topics and post, will this be allowed?

Another query is why we do not move all our old thread to a separate section. Everytime it shows on the page even if we search from the link like - new threads, pending, approved etc

Generally, discussion on any topic for 10-15 days is allowed after that the thread is closed by the editors. Sometimes old threads remain open but when a member responds to that thread the editors close the thread. Closing the old thread is important for convenience and it also opens the door for the new threads.

So, when responding to any thread we should see the that of posting if it is old then do not respond to that thread.

    Honesty is the best policy.

    Geeta,

When old threads are pulled up, the new threads get shifted to the back pages. We would like to keep the forum alive with fresh topics. If at all you do like a topic raised earlier and would like to discuss it further, then you are welcome to raise a fresh thread, give a link to that old one so that others can look back on it, too, and bring up your perspective on it.

Note that we do prefer to avoid repeat discussions on the same topic. For example, we have had tons of threads just on online education so no point in having repeat discussions on that. Hence, if you can bring up a perspective that would elicit some new discussions on the topic that you liked without members repeating the same points again, go ahead. Also, do avoid bringing up a bulk of old threads all over again. Once in a while, it is fine.

When a thread is raised about the Indiastudychannel, I think that should be in the 'About Indiastudychannel' category and a suitable subcategory. This is just a suggestion to the author. Just for information.
Generally, when we come to the forum section we will see the topmost threads only and very rarely we go to the next page. If old threads come on to the top we may miss many new threads which may go down. Keeping this point only, I think ISC kept this condition. If any thread is good the editors may pin it.

Generally the discussion on a topic would be over in a few days because the members would contribute various points from their sides and then there is not much scope for new points to add to that topic. In such a case the thread is to be closed or locked giving place to new threads floated by the members in the meantime. It is a dynamic process and every thread has a logical closing.
Giving reference to the earlier threads a new post can be floated anytime to review the discussions but as there are so many topics to discuss it would be prudent to post a thread on something which is so far not discussed or not covered fully. A topic on a new subject is always welcome.
