Do you find geography as an interesting subject?

Geography is a fascinating subject. We study a lot of things under this subject, especially about the various entities naturally present on the surface of Earth like hills, rivers, oceans, land masses, Islands, volcanoes, springs, etc. We also learn a great deal about the climate, seasons, rainfall, storms, ocean currents, snow-clad Arctic and Antarctic areas, deserts, forests, and things like that.
Have you studied geography as a full-fledged subject during your college years? Do you find geography as an interesting subject? Please share your views.

Yes, Geography is an interesting subject providing deeper inputs regarding the climates and its reasons for the variance of temperatures from places to places due to various factors such as dense population, industrial pollutions due to existence of industries in some local area, place's adjacent to sea - levels and many more. To have full commands of the different mechanisms, different postulates and theories have been mentioned in the text books to support such happenings.
Though I had a great fascination for this subject till I was a student of class seven but later in class eight I could not select this subject for higher studies since this subject was not accommodated in the science- stream. It was exclusively meant for the students of humanity- group.
Time to time, I go to through the text books of Geography to assess the reserves of different minerals such as Coal, Mica, Iron - ores, Aluminium - reserves etc. Though this subject has been included in the humanities but I rate the same as a science subject since all the happenings are backed by scientific explanations alleviating the doubts of the readers.

I also consider it a subject under the science stream. There are many scientific theories closely associated with the geography of a place.

Any subject is good and the interest may vary from person to person. Some may have an interest in a History subject and some may have an interest in geography. But a minimum knowledge of geography is required for all of us. At least a person should know about the oceans and continents and their placement on this earth's crust.
As mentioned by the other authors, this subject is considered under the humanities stream. But in Andhra University a B.Sc graduate can also join a PG course in geography and they will be awarded an M.Sc degree in geography. One of my friends did his PhD in this subject after PG and worked as a professor at one of the state universities of Andhra Pradesh.

The interesting in a subject is according to the student's mentality and the teachers' teaching ability. My paternal uncle used to tell his mathematics teacher if takes class, whole class was felt much interested.

In my school Mr. Rama Iyengar, History teacher made our class very interesting through his teaching of History subject.
In our college B. Com, we have Economic and Commercial Geography as an ancillary subject. This was not a joke as we have to study the world Geography rather than Indian Geography. Mr. Dhayalan, a newly appointed lecturer took class on this subject for us. He treat the black board (without hanging any map) by treating as world map and if he put his hand in one place by saying 'Kazaksthan' we can see the map in our book exactly, to that extent he was strong in the subject and later only we came to know that he was gold medalist in his M. Com. Even today, that is it happened in 1975,if I am remembering him and his teachings means his way of teaching the subject more interesting.
