Geology is a fascinating subject

Geology is a branch of natural sciences and in it, we study Earth and other astronomical objects. The main study done in Geology is about the rocks of which the Earth is composed and the processes by which that changed over time. Geology helps us in determining the age of the rocks as well as understanding the process of formation of rocks, tectonic movements, erosion of exposed rocks and sedimentation, continental drift, understanding oil and water reservoirs, etc.

I have not studied formally any Geology subject. But I had a relative who was a Professor at Andhra University in this Subject. My cousin studied M.Sc Geology and later on, joined ONGC as Geologist. He retired from there as Chief Geologist. He used to say that the subject is interesting. Geology is a subject basically that deals with the earth and its constituents.
There are many applications of this subject. Mining itself is a big subject which is a part of Geology. Geology subject made mining easy and it has given many insights to human beings about detecting the areas where we can find valuable ingredients and also it will teach us about the availability of water and other natural resources.
If there is no Geology we might not have detected so many minerals and metals from the earth.
ONGC and GAIL recruit many Geologists every year for their organisation and there is a lot of scope for career development in these organisations for the students of this subject.
