In my opinion after class 10, we have to add one subject as sports which a student can opt for as an optional paper and undergo training in it. The training should be theoretical as well as practical. That will create a good number of students trained in their respective choice of sport and from them, we can hope that some of the students would perform nicely and can participate in sports competitions from the local level to any level up to international contests depending upon their proficiency in a particular sport.

In most of secondary and higher secondary schools, there are game teachers to promote the talents of the pupils and of course, this is an encouraging step. School Management has allocated funds to include all items for the internal plays such lawn tennis, table tennis apart from ground plays such as football, hockey, cricket, volley balls and other games but we can see such investments don't benefit students to the maximum extent.
There is no session of practical training or classroom teaching to encourage the pupils for the games they are interested.
Schools should be the starting point to motivate them for plays so that the pupils can develop their interest in games of their choice.

I don't think making sports and games a part of the curriculum will not promote the activities in the country. To excel in these areas, the person should have a passion for the same and they should practice with their willingness. Then only they can excel in that sport or game.
What our teachers and parents should do is observe the young students and find out their attitude and then see that they will be given coaching in that particular sport or game. Here simply achieving 35% or 40% marks and getting promoted to the next class will not do any good.
The talent of the individual is to be noticed and should give proper encouragement so that the young boy will flourish in that area. Spotting the talent and polishing the same is the requirement. Students can be encouraged to participate in games and sports and bright performers are to be identified and they should be given special coaching so that their performance will improve.

Currently, we are witnessing that the pupils take no more interest in games because their excess stress on the different subjects included in the syllabus. Though we would not say that the game - teachers are not on the rolls in the schools, it is the apathy of the student- community.
The school management should ensure that every student should be encouraged to take parts in the different games with their regular indulgence in some games of their choice for the time slot fixed by the school management. This will certainly help the students to keep their body fit with their involvement of Football, Cricket, Volleyball etc and Chess, Playing cards etc not less important in raising the mental faculties of the students. The students must be taught regarding the inherent benefits of each game so that they could develop passion for such games as well.

I think that a good emphasis on sports and extracurricular activities is already given in the schools and colleges in today's environment in our country. Students who have an interest in physical activities or take part in sports are getting sufficient opportunities for that. There is a crucial role of parents in this aspect. They have to observe the interests of the child and if the child has a passion for certain games or sports then the parents have to encourage and guide him on the right track.
Indian sportspeople are nowadays performing very well in some of the international events and are getting medals for their good performance. This clearly shows that there is a conducive environment today so that people can perform better in the field of games and sports. There is always a scope for improvement and government and society together can achieve it.
