    The challenges of self learning

We are in an age of digital era and a lot of online courses are available for self-study and learning. There will not be any guide or teacher to teach us but we will be exposed to the course material on that particular topic or subject and will be studying it and going through the end of the topic test and doing self-assessment ourselves. Today many people are learning in that mode by using such facilities on the internet. Moreover, many of these self-learning courses are free of cost.

Have you ever done any course on the Internet in that fashion? Is it easy to focus and concentrate in such courses struggling alone to understand the material or do we require a teacher? Please share your experience in this regard.

I did a diploma course in distance mode. The institute used to send lessons by post. I used to read them and understand them and I attended the written exam offline mode. I passed the exam and obtained 75% marks and a diploma was awarded. There were no contact classes or video calls etc. It is as good as self-learning only. To understand the subject sent by him I used to refer to many other books.
If there is a teacher who explains the lesson and clears our doubts understanding the lesson is easy and we will have somebody to rely on. But in self-learning, we have to refer to more and more books to understand and grasp the whole subject. It definitely needs more time and energy to learn the subject in that mode. The Internet is a boon and we can refer to many items on the Internet if we have any interest in learning.
