In such a case we have to get the name changed in class 10 and class 12 marksheet. Generally being old cases such changes are difficult to get done from the board or the college from which the student had obtained them.
So the only recourse is to consult a lawyer or notary public and get a legal affidavit in the matter. The legal document is to be signed by the candidate and will contain all the details about this change and also contain copies of documents attached with it. This affidavit is to be countersigned by a magistrate or any other authorised person in the court and then a copy of the same is to be produced at the time of document verification and counselling.
Now a days many agencies (especially those who give service for PAN card / Passport / Licenses / Aadhar / Gazette notification etc) provide this type of service and one can take their help also.
Knowledge is power.

There are two paths to get the mistake corrected.
1. You have to approach the board through your school and ask for correction by attaching documented proof proving that your mother's name is Sunita Devi. When you got admitted to your school you might have filled in your mother's name in the application. If you mentioned the name, Sunita Devi. then the fault is with the board authorities. In any case, they have to correct it. You have to follow up so that work will be done fast. Otherwise, it will take a lot of time.
2. The second route is to get an affidavit saying that Sunita and Suniat Devi are the same names of one person only. For this, you may have to approach an advocate in your area. He will guide you. But these days some organisations are insisting on Gazette publications. In getting this done also the advocate can help you.
Try both options, so that you do need not to wait for the correct certificate for further proceedings.
