Can anyone please guide me to become a better content writer?

I have been a part of ISC for a very long time but limited to the forum section only and not much. I did not read much about content writing and SEO (which I don't understand exactly. Can anyone please elaborate on that)? Now I am thinking of reading more about content writing and other methods to use to improve my skills, learn and earn from this site or any other content writing site. So if anyone here can explain a few terms and their better utilization and how I can learn and better myself for freelancing while I am free.

I am currently doing Ph.D. in history and thus want to use my free time and historical knowledge to better use while improving my writing skills.

You can easily learn and earn from this platform if you contribute to a couple of sections regularly. Knowing the techniques of using keywords in your posts and writing good articles will help you and interestingly, you will get all those tips in ISC itself. The author has raised an interesting post and I would like to give my comments.
Content writing is a challenge even for those who know the meaning of all the terms related to it. The reason is very simple - any content we write should be original, should attract the readers to it, and should have something which is useful either for a student or reader or surfer, or any reference searcher.

It is seen that mostly DIY (do it yourself) types of content attract the attention of people and get good traffic to it. But it is not easy to create DIY content of good quality because already there are so many good DIY sites available on the internet.

There are a large number of internet sites where mediocre content is easily published but it does not attract much traffic.

Many people with practice and hard work improve their content writing and become successful in that. We all know that traffic is the key to earning and traffic will only be there when content is of high quality. It is obvious that until content is improved earnings would not be there. However, a little earning can be made on various sites in the form of cash, vouchers, points, etc through the revenue-sharing model of that particular site. In such a case the content should be approved by the editors of that site before becoming eligible for revenue sharing.

Knowledge is power.

Neelam, You are one of the senior members on this platform and you are posting your own threads and also responding to other threads. Thus already you have the skill of content writing. Practice makes people perfect. Continue writing. Try to understand the weak points and correct them so that you know the mistakes and you will never repeat them again. Going on writing and trying to improve following the suggestion from the Managing Editor and her team of Editors will definitely help to get better writing habits. Read books and newspapers so that vocabulary will also increase. That is always a must. When we have a good vocabulary we can use precise words in our writing that makes our writing better. You can also start contributing to the Social Village site also so that you can utilise your free time for improving your skills. I wish you all the best.

I don't think it will be difficult for you to go ahead for the improvement of your skill writing since you are yourself the senior member of this site. Writing is definitely a skill and the same can be achieved through your vast knowledge for the content to be taken up for your writing journey. The second point for the enhancement of your skill is your good command of the vocabulary of the language in which you are to write confidently.
Your sound knowledge will be your guide and your command of vocabulary would help you to choose the appropriate words always.
You are sure to get a lot of help from the panel of editors of this site for the refinement of your writing skills.

You have been a fairly good contributor in forum section.
There are others like you(this member included) who are not savvy n SEO and online content posting matters.
But we have been helped and guided by the ISC members and editors when they felt we needed guidance and tutoring.
Editor Sankalan Bhattacharya has given some good references in this regard.
But above all, it is 'practice that makes perfect.'
So just explore the Knowledge Center and add your original contents as answers and additional information to the topics already given there. Experience in ISC is that the editors guide and help you to remedy if they find any deficiency, provided you confirm otherwise to all the posting guidelines currently in force.
