Should IITs in our country have sports quota in admissions?

In the recent IIT council meet (55th meet) a point was put up by IIT-Madras for creating sports quota in IITs for the outstanding candidates from sports field so that they can get an opportunity to study in institutes like IITs.
If the proposal is finally agreed by the council then guidelines would be made in this regard of course after detailed discussions and deciding the modalities in the matter.
What is your view on this? Should IITs have some sports quota for admission to its courses? Please give your opinion.

There is nothing wrong with creating sports quotas in IITs also. Already in all IITs, all other reservations are existing. SC/ST/BC/OBC reservations are there in force. So this is also a good move. But what I feel is instead of reserving some seats from the existing seats, some additional seats can be created for sports persons also. But if they allocate some seats from the existing seats the competition for the general category will further increase.
Actually, educational institutes like IITs, NITs and IISc etc should not have any system of reservation for students as well as for jobs also. Then only it is easy to maintain the standards. But already reservations are in force and there is no way these reservations can be abolished. So we have to live with the problem,
I think definitely, the council will approve the proposal and guidelines will be framed and will be sent to all IITs for implementation.
