Is happiness a choice? Is it something to be discussed?

We talk about various things, be it success, career, money, life and death but rarely do we see the topic of happiness in normal conversation. We rarely ask people if they are happy. There are set goals and everyone has to follow the path first school, college, job and marriage a set path. A little digression and everyone around you starts to question your whole existence. Often people digress from this set path in search of meaning in their life, happiness and peace. How often do we ask ourselves and others around us whether there is happiness in life or not?

And is happiness a choice? Can someone get happy by thinking? Should happiness be one of the important points of discussion in one's life choices and goals?

Our ancestors knew the importance of happiness thus one of the blessings or "aashirwad" one gets from elders is "Khush raho" which is to stay happy but often they are merely words no one actually thinks about. What is your take on this?

Happiness is a state of the mind and it is by choice only. A satisfied man is a happy man. Many people say this. When I am travelling in a car, if I am satisfied with the car I am owning I am a happy man. If I start thinking about cars which are much costlier than my car, I am a dissatisfied man and start thinking about how to get that. I am not a happy man.

Some people will be happy always and they never think about the comforts they don't have and never compare themselves with others who are in a better position. That comparison will definitely make us unhappy.

It is good for health to be happy. Unhappiness will bring tension and stress unnecessarily. So we should choose to be happy only always. But it is easy to say than practice. How many of us practice these things so that we will be happy always?

Happiness is definitely is the state of mind and it makes man satisfied with whatever he has. You might have seen how in a similar situation the two persons react differently.
Suppose the case of two students appearing for entrance test of IIT Physics where one student complained that the questions were really tough but he attempted the questions to his best. Moreover he was under impression that this was his first attempt for the said paper and in case of failure, he would appear for the next time for his better performance.
In case of second candidate, he remained in the state of depression throughout the examination session. This made him so unhappy that he could not recapitulate the related formulas to solve the numerical problems.
Finally the results were announced and the former candidate with his ample satisfaction quotient got through but in case of the later candidate, he miserably failed to clear the test.
What I mean to say even in the similar situation, the table can be turned into the favour with the rational thinking.
Such secret formulas are not to be told others but needs to be followed by themselves to enjoy the benefits of satisfaction.
