Resolving a few issues in the Knowledge Centre

    Dear all,

We identified a few issues in the Knowledge Centre and I have just resolved them. Below are the issues resolved today:

    1. When editors add a comment to the answer, it wasn't visible to the authors of the Answer. This means that when we moved the answers to pending or deleted status, most members were resubmitting them without making any changes since they couldn't see the comments from editors.

    2. As per our policy, once an Answer is deleted by the Editors, it can't be resubmitted by the author any more. However, due to a bug in our system, authors were able to resubmit the answers in the past and it would come back to the editing queue. This issue is fixed and members can no longer resubmit a deleted answer. However, Deleting an answer will be an extreme step and in most cases, we will move the answer only to the "Pending" status with remarks to improve/correct the answer. Even in case of deleted answers, members may submit an appeal through the forum to restore the answer so that members can correct and resubmit.

    3. We had a provision for editors to Lock answers, even without deleting them. When an answer is locked, members can no longer edit it, even if it is approved. This lock wasn't working but it is fixed now.

Please let me know if you notice any other issues in the Knowledge Centre.

Thank you for your detailed note.
I feel the author should know the reason for keeping the thread in the pending section. I think with the corrections now the author may be able to see that.

Thank you very much Tony sir for resolving the issues of KC. One of my answers has been rejected but I couldn't find any reason. Now, the members would be able to find the reason of rejection or moving an answer to the pending state.

    Kb,

Are you trying to submit a new topic after the rejection of a couple of your previous topics or answers? If that is the case, then there will be an automatic ban temporarily which will go away after a couple of days.

Otherwise, it can also be a technical issue. The Admin has been informed about this issue and please wait for a response.

    Kb,

Does this happen always? I am trying to figure out what happens. Did you ever have success in posting a topic or it has been consistently failing always?

    regards,

Kb Sir: I also regularly face this problem. I think this problem occurs when the submitted topic exceeds the word-limit. When I reduce the number of words of the same topic/question, it gets accepted.

Yes Partha, you could be correct. I too once faced a similar problem. By reducing the number of words, the topic got accepted.

Yes sir, I have posted topics previously also. But I have been facing this problem since two days back. Anyway, submitted successfully the same topic today without any issues and without reducing the topic words. Thanks to all.

Sir, I have not received any message rejecting any of my previous topics or answers. I came to know about this today through you only. But, all my submissions are already accepted. thanks

#774386, Sir, I think it would be good to place a restriction on the length of a topic. To the point topics with sufficient details will be more catchy.

As for example, one of my questions in Knowledge Centre is "Career opportunities in India for female students with Ph.D. degrees". But, I could not ask the actual question due to word-limit issue. I myself cut down the question to keep it within the limit. Actually, the question which I intended to ask was: "What are the career opportunities in India for female students with Ph.D. in Extension & Communication"? Therefore, I would request the management to increase the word-limit/character-limit of the questions to get more meaningful questions.

Thankfully, this has now been done.
