Private Engineering colleges pulling down shutters due to government apathy

Some of my relatives formed an education society and started an engineering and pharmacy college in the suburban area of Telangana State. It was running well. But after 3 or 4 years, it was closed. I have seen some more such institutes.

In the government quota, in the reserved category, many students are joining private colleges. They need not pay fees and the government has to pay that fees directly to the colleges. But due to financial problems and lack of funds, the State government is not paying that money and the dues are accumulating and running into crores of rupees. The college managements are not able to bring in money for their expenses and they are not even able to pay salaries to the faculty.

The government should either pay the fees immediately after the admission of a student or should allow the managements to collect fees directly from students and reimburse the same to the students. Otherwise, we will see many such colleges getting closed.

It is really a sad state of affair that because of the lack of students, some colleges are getting closed. Every student is trying for the best institution but as all of them cannot get admission there, they are getting discouraged and at the same time do not want to join a mediocre college.
Government also cannot add these colleges to its kitty because of the limitation of funds with it.

    Knowledge is power.

It is really an unfortunate case and ultimately the students on rolls are affected. Prior to enrolment, there were not at all aware of such unforeseen situations. It has developed due to financial constraint of the state government of Telangana leading to possibility of closure of such private engineering colleges.
The students are in the midst of their running sessions and in case of final closure of such private engineering colleges, they are to suffer for their academic loss apart from suffering of mental trauma. This situation should be sorted out amicably between the college management and the state government to save the careers of these helpless students. Resuming their studies further would mean their wastage of time of their studies in such private engineering colleges and making further attempts for their studies in other engineering colleges through facing the routs of competitive examinations. In this process the guardians, too, will face the similar problems.
