Yesterday was Doctor's Day in India: But yesterday was also GST Day

We all know 1st July is observed as the Doctor's Day in India. This is being done to pay respect to the famous physician Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy. 1st July is the date of birth (and also the date of death) of the famous physician who was also the second Chief Minister of West Bengal who became very famous for his developmental work.

But, do we know that 1st July is also observed as GST Day (Goods & Services Tax Day) in India?

On 1 July 2017, GST became applicable across India. First GST Day was celebrated on 1 July 2018. It is also relevant to note that Assam was the first Indian state to ratify the GST Bill.

Although the concept of GST was first brought by France, but it is pertinent to state that Indian GST system follows Canadian Dual Model. GST-related Bill is 115th Constitution Amendment Bill. The relevant Section on GST Council is Section 279A of the Constitution. GST Council is headed by the Finance Minister of India.

Thank you Partha Sir for reminding us of two important truths. If we want to celebrate the Doctor's day, let us do the same keeping in mind how they are involved in saving a patient lying in the death bed and the doctor is closing monitoring his deteriorating condition with all such measures which would restore his life line. In that moment, the relationship of the two becomes inseparable and not for a single moment, the doctor can think of something else other than saving the patient struggling for his life. In that way, they can be considered as next to God. They deserve appreciation from our inner hearts for their selfless service.
Now coming to GST collection, it can be said that this experiment has changed the fate of the country since its inception in 2117. Let us hope that there would be a significant boost of collections with the coverage of other items not included so far.
I am thankful to Partha Sir for reminding us of two important issues.

As per Hindu mythology, Doctors are next to God. God give us life and Doctor Protects our health. Dhanvanthari is the God of medicines and brought Ayurveda Medicinal practices to this earth. All Hindus worship him as the God of health. We need not think that we have to respect Doctors every day and not only on a Particular day. I wish all the members a happy Doctor's Day.
Incidentally, on the same date, GST was introduced. In a way, the introduction of GST was also a treatment for improving the financial health of our country. So it is a coincidence but a very opt day. After the introduction of GST, we have seen a lot of improvement in tax collection and that helped a lot in the improvement of the country's economy and we should congratulate the Indian Government for the same.

GST has made the economic base of the country (both Centre and States) very strong, although the system needs rationalization. The GST Council is precisely doing this in a phased manner.

It is interesting to know that two important things are falling on the same date. The services rendered by the doctors and the collection raised by the GST are two very important parameters in the progress of the country. No doubt GST is doing well and the collections are increasing month by month. When government has more revenue collections by way of taxes then it is obvious that government will spend in other areas including education, technology, and science so that the country progresses ahead and its people are benefited.
    Knowledge is power.
