When someone is confused, it becomes challenging to make a choice. The same thing applies to students. Rather than nurturing the students' interest, if parents only think of a career that will provide a fat salary then it may not be an easy task to show the path. If parents are confused and unable to provide the necessary guidance to their children they can always consult the teachers to know what may be the best option for their children.
Nowadays, many parents remain busy with their careers and cannot provide the necessary guidance to their children. In that case, taking help from a professional would be a good move. Before visiting a career counsellor why not consult the teacher of the school/college under whom they are doing the coursework? As the thread mentions a lot of courses in various streams if one has no specific choice then it becomes difficult to choose from them. It's not like doing a Master's or specialization in some subject can provide a good career. Rather, one has to perform in the field to sustain. One has to master something that she/he will be able to apply in the real world and can thus make a good career.
