Scientists say that a new epoch 'Anthropocene' has started in the 1950s

Geology is the branch of science where we study the Earth and the history of its origin and evolution to the present age. Geological time scales are huge and are measured in packets of million years. There are periods of ice ages and sea level changes associated with the mass extinction of species. Dinosaurs were on the Earth for a long time but extinct due to various changes on Earth. In Geology, different ages are characterized by certain parameters based on the age of rocks and fossils studied by Geologists.

Now a group of scientists have made some observations in a small lake in Canada and suggested that the age of Anthropocene started somewhere in the 1950s. It is mentioned that the existing age or epoch known as Holocene (which started 11700 back came to an end in the 1950s). The point is that humans by their actions made a great impact on Earth, its Geology, and the ecosystem.
This study would add a new chapter in the Geology subject.

The Anthropocene Age might have been started. The reasons for this may be due to three factors. The first one is the technological developments that are taking place. The second one may be exponential growth in population. The third one may be an increase in the production and consumption of essential items.

These three factors caused an increase in the consumption of natural, mineral and fossil resources. In addition to the above expansion of cities and transport facilities and routes. All these activities of mankind might have changed the face of the planet over the last two centuries.

As mentioned by the author this change will start a new chapter in Geological studies and we may see many more changes in nature due to the actions of mankind.
