B Tech after Diploma. Is it difficult to cope?

Many students after completing their 10th class opt for Diploma in Engineering for various reasons like the financial background of the family and the interest of the student Etc. Such students after completing their diploma may think of doing B Tech/BE. Such students can get into 2nd year of B Tech through later entry. There will be a common entrance test state wise and based on the rank obtained seats will be allotted.

These students will not study the syllabus covered in B Tech's first year. In such a case is it difficult for such students in their studies to cope. Some students told me that they are having difficulty in mathematics but no difficulty in other subjects. I like to know the views of the members who have some idea about this.

If the students were serious while doing their Diploma, there is no question of facing any difficulties in their ongoing course ie the BE Course. In a sense, they are getting a great relief of saving at least a year ie their first year. They are admitted directly to the second year assuming that they are fully familiar with the fist year course including Mathematics.
If some difficulties are encountered in their studies in the second year, they can manage well with their consultation with their teachers or even they can go in for tuitions for the time being to understand the basics of the subjects.

If a student is studious and has interest in the subject then it would not be difficult to pursue engineering after diploma. In the technical diploma also many basic matters are taught which are related to engineering discipline. So there would not be anything different while moving from diploma education to engineering one.
As many things are already covered in diploma course the candidates are given a lateral entry in second year so that they can complete the engineering course only in 3 years.
Some students join engineering after a gap after completing their diploma course and if they do not remain in continuous touch with studies then they would feel difficulty in coping up with the engineering course.

Transitioning from a Diploma in Engineering to B Tech/BE can pose challenges, particularly for subjects like mathematics. Students enter directly into the second year of B Tech, skipping the first-year syllabus. While this saves time, it requires catching up on foundational subjects. Many students succeed by seeking help, tutoring, and maintaining a positive attitude. The level of difficulty varies based on personal aptitude, curriculum, and teaching methods. With dedication and effort, students can effectively cope and succeed in their B Tech studies.

If the students were serious enough during their diploma courses with the sound basics of Physics and Mathematics, they need not worry too much during their studies in the BE course.
It might happen initially that might feel inconvenient initially but with their determined approach, they can reverse the tough situation in their favour. If they look out for help regarding the first year portion which remained out of touch due to their late entry of the four year degree course, they can take up the help of tutorial classes available in most of the destinations where engineering colleges are located.

Diploma holders are given lateral entry in the engineering courses and it is going for quite sometime and is a popular mode of entering the engineering courses for them. As I understand the learnings in the diploma courses are very near to what one learns in the first year engineering and from that point of view a diploma students should not have any difficulty in pursuing a lateral entry engineering course. There are a large number of students who have benefited from this route.
