    What is an international school?

In the 1980s and 1990s, the concept of private schools emerged. Later on, we have seen many Public schools, Techno schools, etc. But recently we are seeing many international schools. Recently I visited a school in a small town in Telangana and they named it as an international school. The syllabus they are following is the CBSE syllabus and there is no playground and the school is housed in a private building.

In my opinion, an international school should have some international standards and the faculty should be able to teach different standards that are followed internationally. Just naming a school as an international school may not serve the purpose. In your opinion, what is an international school?

An international school is an educational institution that offers a curriculum designed to provide a global perspective, typically for expatriate students or those seeking an international education. These schools often follow an international curriculum, such as the International Baccalaureate (IB) or Cambridge International Examinations, and provide a diverse learning environment with students from various cultural backgrounds.

An international school is like a passport to knowledge from around the world. It's a place where minds from different corners of the globe come together to explore a broader curriculum. Imagine it as a hub of intellectual exchange without borders, fostering cross-cultural understanding and preparing students for a globalized future.

    Honesty is the best policy.

If the school is associated and following the curriculum of International Baccalaureate (IB) or Cambridge International Examinations then only the name of school should be given in that format. Otherwise it would be misleading and could be treated as a fraud or having malafide intention.
I have also observed information on some schools adding International to their name but I never thought to check their affiliations whether they are following some international practices.
I think I would take special care in this respect now while going through the information on schools while contributing in information update posts in ISC.

    Knowledge is power.

An international school will the course - curriculum of International Baccalaureate or Cambridge Patterns so that the institution could be justified to follow the education of international patterns.
In India we are certainly lured with the newly formed institutions claiming that they are following the syllabus of International Patterns. All guardians are not in a position to verify such credentials but by going through the campus of the schools and the manners of talking of the staffs, teachers and the the Principal are impressing them considerably. Moreover, the fees of such schools are often high enough to bear the same for most of guardians.
However, before we take up any decision to start education of our children, we must verify all the facts such as its affiliation with any international examinations. These days there are many institutions offering you tall promises but there are every chances of being deceived.

An international school offers a curriculum beyond a single country's educational system, promoting global perspectives and cultural diversity. It follows recognized international curricula, has a diverse student body, and often employs faculty from different countries. These schools emphasize holistic development, encourage critical thinking, and foster responsible global citizenship. Accreditation and adherence to international standards are crucial. However, the term "international school" should reflect genuine global elements rather than just a label.
